Another big movie editing session done. This one's about 1hr 15mins and with all the new Sony cameras, DJI Mini 4 Pro drones and RODE Wireless Go2 radio mic kits.

Rendering now, then uploading for this lovely couple. :)

I am going to be a lot more involved and 'live' on this page from now on, as I want to put to bed the matter discussed over the last few days (further down the page). Transparency is key.

LOTS OF AMAZING MESSAGES and texts flying in from past and future customers having read the new posts today and the support and reassurance is overwhelming. Even as a big burly bloke that I am, a couple of tears have been shed just now. I do take it all to heart, because this is all I've ever wanted to do with my life.

I am going to respond to them all tomorrow morning now, as I am getting a big video finished today / tonight into the small hours and I'll be up at 6am starting about 7 ish to carry on with the next customer's editing.

Talk about a silver lining! I don't know what to say.

MOVING TO DIGITAL SUPPLYING OF PACKAGES TOO SOON

I am looking to stop using the postal service for sending out USB sticks and paper packs to customers. Many other photo and video companies use online secure cloud spaces to transfer full photo sets and big movie files to customers. So it seems like a good time to make the switch for Keylight. And it makes sense too, as internet speeds are so fast it makes it easy to do.

This is going to greatly speed up the turnaround of packages as it removes a large and slow process in the office as USB copying is a slow process. For my current customers, I am offering two incentives, as follows;

1: Instead of 3x matchin USBs being posted out, if customer switches to 1x USB I am upgrading their included Storybook from 30 to 40 pages.

2: Instead of a postal pack being sent at all (no USB sticks) I am offering to upgrade the included Storybook from 30 to 50 pages.

The full sets of photos and videos will all be download-able via my WeTransfer cloud space, by clicking a link and leaving the computer to download everything. ALL DATA IS TOP SECRET and no one else will have access to any of it. Only the recipient of the link I send will gain access.

Customers will be able to easily copy and duplicate everything as they wish as make their own USB copies to give to friends and family, as I always give copyright to the customer, so theres no need to pay for reprinting or enlargements, like most other companies still do.

Well well well… Having covered over 3200 wonderful weddings over the last 28 years, I got married myself on the 29th October 2024!

Meet my amazing wife Natalie. We have been together for just shy of eight years and met through my work as a wedding photographer.

We tied the knot at Lichfield Registry Office and had a modest doo with family and friends. So now I know how it feels to get a sore face from all that smiling! 😅

We are holding off our Honeymoon until I’m all set with the backlog of work. Natalie is incredibly supportive and also brilliant at football! Natalie, I love you so much ❤️

ABOUT BACKLOG AND DELAYS - Almost Back To Normal & Reassurances

Hi All, Jonathon here, I am aware that there is some discussion about me and Keylight on a page on Facebook regarding delays and turnaround times. I hold my hands up to this and had been battling like a machine with the deluge of weddings, that came about after the 2020-2021 happenings had finished, as I was one of the only wedding suppliers in the UK to simply allow two entire years worth of wedding customers move their date, regardless of lock downs happening. The bare minimum of assistance by as wedding supplier back then, was to ONLY allow alterations IF there was a lock down blocking the entire event. Couples were not covered just because of restrictions etc. I couldnt bare that, so I did the right thing in letting everyone move dates. The end result was 352 weddings squeezed in from July 2021 to the beginning of October 2022. Being as I am so popular, it had a roll-on effect. I had actually only just began advertising the Photo-Video Combo packages back in mid 2018, which those bookings came to fruition around the Winter of 2019 and then the pandemic happened. So the knock-on effect was bigger as it wasnt just photo-only services being moved, but video too.

Fortunately, this winter and early 2025 is a lot quieter for me (partly by plan) so that I can finally get everyones work done and out to the customers in the normal turnaround. And then it will be completely back to normal. I can tell you, it has been the most intense and difficult last few years doing this, which I have now covered just over 3200 wonderful weddings.

The customer in question who posted back in June this year (I have only just been made aware of it) everything was actually rectified with a completely new edit of the photos through the new editing software, two new big Storybooks and an alteration to the movie too, as a part of it was accidentally cut out in the edit. The new photo software creates the results seen in the more recent gallery posts on here which I have attached to this post. Incredibly vibrant and colourful, from my set of five top Sony Alpha cameras. Compared to the older Canon cameras and software, its literally like night and day. Please check it out for yourselves, by looking at some of the older galleries and then the new ones. There was also a comment about me apparently making more or new Keylight pages. This page is the only one I run and use. There was a spare overflow page from years ago, but that is dormant because Facebook doesn’t limit content like it did a long time ago, so adding content isn’t restricted.

Keylight Photography is my life. Im not going to be corny by saying "its my passion". However, I have been shooting weddings since I was actually 17, during my second-year of photography at college. Going full-time back in 2010 was the best thing I ever did.

GOING FORWARD
It is my 100% commitment, to all of my customers, to ensure that, once this last big push to get the work all done and sent out is complete, everything will return to the normal 3 month turnaround.

PREVIEW GALLERIES
I am also looking to reinstate taking a laptop with me to weddings to work a small preview gallery during the wedding breakfast. I used to do this a long time ago, but stopped when I introduced the photo and video combo service as it was a lot to be doing all at once. I am aware that some couples didn’t get a mini preview gallery which I thank them for their patience too, as it does tie up a lot of time when the full-pack editing needs to be done.

I am and will be forever grateful to everyone who has supported me during all of this, be it with wonderful reviews, extended patience while the whole world changed under our feet, and for everyones continued support. One thing is for sure. I certainly am not a wedding scammer or anything of the sort. I run the business from my home address, I put my face and name to everything I do and always will. I know the wedding industry has been rife with these kids of issues and suppliers, but mark my words, this is my baby. Its all I do.

MAIN WEBSITE SHOULD BE BACK UP NOW :D

The hosting site has moved the main site onto a new server and I am aware there’s a “risk going forward” type of message that pops up when accessing the site.

It is accessible to most users by clicking through the warning. Firefox, Chrome and Edge users should be able to continue to the site. Safari on iPhones and iPads seems to not pass through the warning screen.

And I will speak to the hosting company tomorrow, as it was supposed to be a smooth move between servers at their end, without warnings popping up.

I am working on shortening some of the movies to work better on social media, as they tend to be full-length epics which run for about an hour or more. I am getting someone in to help with this so that I can publish them both on the main website and on all my social media too. :)

I recently had to switch off commenting on my business page because there have been a number of fake Facebook profiles that pretend to be 'Facebook Admin' accounts or other 'autoritative' pages, which post spams and fake accusations of things like breaches of Facebook terms and rules etc. and leave links that appear to take you to viruses and malware.

It's not just my page that has had this, it's become rife among business pages over the last 6-12 months. Many of us think that it has something to do with the new AI systems that have been developed and are increasing daily.

Hi All,

Jon here. I know it's been pretty quiet on this page for posts and updates as I have been working like a machine in the background, getting all the editing done as quickly as I possibly can, following the last few years' worth of disruption which led to me moving two whole years' worth of Weddings and fitting them in among the other existing bookings etc., which led to a bit of a tidal wave of editing all at once.

Things are finally getting a lot closer to back to normal and I am hugely grateful for everyone's support during what became the busiest time of my 28 year career, by far!

Lots of changes, including a set of five amazing new Sony Alpha 7 cameras for all the photo and video work, new gimbals, drones, top quality lenses, new computers for editing and sharing out workloads etc.

The new cameras are amazing to say the least. They all have AI face recognition and eye tracking with super high-speed focus tracking, so that more can be captured - especially when the kids run about, and more off-the-cuff shots that happen spontaneously. The face-tracing lets me store a picture of the Bride and Groom as priority people, so that when they’re among a group of guests, it finds them and focus tracks on them automatically. Here's a selection of examples that I have put together recently. The majority of them (99%) are from the new Sony gear and a couple are from the new lenses on the older cameras.

Now that I can finally see the horizon in terms of getting everything edited and sent out I will be more active on here in coming weeks. I still have a way to go, but I guess that's what happens when the government block weddings for 16 months which led me to 24 months of date changes. It was always better to give everyone replacement dates, some six-to-ten months before the wedding, rather than making them wait until the last minute to see if Downing St put on another lock down last minute. And it worked too. It enabled all my lovely customers to have the wedding they dreamed of and planned.

NEW GALLERY FROM THE NEW CAMERAS and/or LENSES.

A recent spend of about £20,000 all in all to purchase five new full-frame Sony Alpha cameras for both photo and video purposes, and a selection of new lenses that work on the old Canon and new Sony cameras, has seen a big boost in quality and style.

Some of the favourite high-end lenses include 35mm and 85mm f1.4 units which provide much more blurring to the backgrounds (Shallow depth of field) and also improved low-light performance.
