Did you know you can book us to perform at your event?

The choir enhances the lives of its members and also reaches out to the wider community by performing in places that have little or no contact with the outside world-such as hospitals and care homes. We also perform at fun days where carers, friends and family attend. Singing at events such as the turning on of the Solihull Christmas lights raises mental health awareness!

We have also been invited to sing at health conferences and local award ceremonies. In fact, choir picks up where the clinicians leave off.

If you'd like to know more about booking the choir to sing, please send us a DM or contact us through our website.

๐ŸŽถBENEFITS OF SINGING IN A CHOIR! ๐ŸŽถ

**Improved Breathing**

Choir singing encourages proper breathing techniques, which can enhance lung capacity and overall respiratory health.

It's not just our minds that can be helped by singing - being in a choir can have physical benefits too!

We welcome new members to our three venues where we rehearse each week. We're in Bournville (Birmingham), Chelmsley Wood (Solihull) and Walmley (Sutton Coldfield).

Pop us a DM if you'd like more info, or visit the website - link in the bio!

๐ŸŽถ WHO ARE THE CHOIR TEAM? ๐ŸŽต

Meet... Sue!

Sue says:

"Working full time as an Assistant Headteacher for SEND and Safeguarding, I joined the choir in 2019 as a way to relieve some of the stress in my day to day life.

I soon discovered that the choir provided a real sense of inclusion and community and was so much more than the opportunity to sing and learn songs.

I then became the Choir Secretary in April 2024 and my role involves responding to email enquiries and helping to arrange events and performances. I also help to keep all choir members updated with information and I meet and greet any new members at Chelmsley rehearsals. I am keen to ensure that the choir is a welcome and accessible place for all members and that it continues to provide a happy and fulfilling experience for all."

Sue does a brilliant job at keeping us all organised - thanks Sue! ๐Ÿ’

๐ŸŽถ Our Choir family member Dawn shares here thoughts on being a part of The Wellbeing Community Choir...

"When my previous choir folded, my partner found The Wellbeing Choir on Facebook. Due to me being quite nervous, it took me a few months to pluck up courage to join and it was the best thing I ever did.

We have fun, laughs, sing lots of different genres & meet with lots of friends. week after week. I feel so happy & relaxed after every session. It is therapy.

I will certainly recommend it to anyone."

Need some choir 'therapy' like Dawn?

We'd love to welcome you! DM us for more information.

๐ŸŽถ"Singing with others is an unmediated, shared experience as each person feels the same music reverberating in their individual bodies. Singing is part of our humanity; it is embodied empathy." - Jay Griffiths ๐ŸŽต

The Wellbeing Community Choir perform 'Wake Me Up' at our Summer Concert.

We have a huge repertoire of songs from all kinds of genres - there's something for everyone!

Expertly arranged by our Choir Director, Martin Trotman, the songs are separated into the different choir sections (Alto, Soprano, Bass and Tenor) and uploaded onto our website so you can rehearse your part in your own time.

๐ŸŽถ WHO ARE THE CHOIR TEAM? ๐ŸŽต

Meet... Sharon!

Sharon says:

"I joined the choir about 10 years ago whilst working at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust where the choir was originally formed.

Over the years Iโ€™ve been an active member of the choir and helped to set up a branch in Walmley for the Sutton Coldfield area.

Last year I was privileged to take up the role of Chair and to work alongside skilled and dedicated members of the Management Team who all give their time to ensure that the choir keeps going and remains financially sound.

My role as Chair is to work with other members of the Management Team to ensure that the choir constitution is upheld and facilitate a safe environment where choir members can come together to enjoy singing and camaraderie.

I also take an active role in the running of the Sutton branch."

We are so grateful for Sharon's guiding hand, keeping our future plans and aspirations for the Choir on track! โค
