Some of the most striking houses in are in Holly Grove. Designed by architect William Alexander Harvey in 1900, they faced the railway line and partly served to show the garden village to passing travellers.

Historian Michael Harrison points out that the designs include a wealth of fantastic Arts and Crafts detail including handmade bricks, half-timbering, pebbledash and metal work. And that the designs are reminiscent of architects such as Voysey and Mackintosh.

Rest House Ceremonial Key, 1914
This is a ceremonial key for the Rest House which sits in the centre of Bournville Village Green and presented upon its opening in 1914 to George and Elizabeth Cadbury.

The Rest House was built as a gift to celebrate the couples Silver wedding anniversary and paid for by Cadbury employees from all over the world. It was designed by architect William Alexander Harvey and inspired by the yarn market in Dunster village, Somerset.

Inscription reads:
“REST HOUSE, BOURNVILLE, APRIL 18TH 1914”
