A ghostly Savoy hotel … empty except for a masked camera crew, me … and a streaming DJ set with Me & Mrs Jones (Richard Jones & Sophie Ellis Bexter) to 150 homes around the UK.
I kept my clothes on.

As I am wrapping up the year, a little video (with summer vibes! Why not!) to reflect, and share thanks, to all the great venue partners in 2023. Whilst not as crazy as 2022, it was in other ways!

Any good travel or event professional is always desperately eager to find the latest new hot hotel opening and all things new. I am no exception. However, experiencing for the first time, the classic and iconic hotels of the world, in my mind, is equally exciting and rewarding. They are often the benchmark for which so many hotels try to emulate and still amongst the most inspirational and motivational experiences for incentive reward and recognition.
A recent personal visit to the legendary Hotel Cipriani did not disappoint. A pure oasis so close, yet far enough across the water from the crowds in and around San Marco and the main touristic areas, it was a magical experience.
A dream come true to visit a bucket list hotel of mine to mark a personal milestone. I couldn’t resist exploring the hotel and event spaces – just for future client ref!
If it’s good enough for Hollywood and the glitterati, I’m sure my clients will be equally comfortable ensconced it this gem on the lagoon!
The staff were undoubtedly some of the finest I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in my long career.

What is your favourite hotel I am often asked? My mind normally fumbles, whilst I try to name a single hotel. We event planners are lucky we get to experience so many fine venues, they generally blur, especially at my age! However, I think I've found one contender for the top spot.
Having just returned from the breathtakingly beautiful Tuscan hills, a huge shout out to the stunning Castello di Casole, A Belmond Hotel
Setting, style, food, service and all-around fabulousness. The client feedback upon leaving was of the highest order and departure day blues from a group like I've not experienced for a long time.
Thank you to my event partners Alina and the whole hotel team at Castello di Casole for a superb event experience. A huge thanks to my local DMC partners Andrea & Eugenia at Mutika EMC (plus their UK face Henriette) for all the support. Maurizio Marchini, the 'balcony singing Tenor' was an inspired idea for opening our weekend and the nicest guy! A super happy and proud event planner.

My design partner Melissa waved her magic wand and we transformed a stunning walled garden into a chic, boho, Mediterranean-style dinner set right out of the pages of Conde Nast.
Three - source the best suppliers and services to enhance the experience. From Croquet Martin, Activity Jayne, AV Alex & Olly, Lighting Matt, Vintage Hire Ginny, DJ Sacha, Monroe Duo and all others who played a part in a super weekend.
So I am super happy and proud to see our months of planning be beautifully executed. Thank you to all involved.

Most event agencies and planners like to show off their events on social media with smiley, happy clients and the end result. As it’s a given that I have happy, smiley clients 😀, my followers know I like sharing 'behind the scenes' .... with a big salute to my event partners and supporters.
The brief: 900 - 1000 managers. A big venue to host their first post-COVID day conference and awards dinner. 900 + bedrooms within walking distance. Production, entertainment, and the usual sparkle. Two hours to flip a conference space to an awards dinner. All paths led to the NEC.
With the show over (and very happy clients) ... the 'build' illustrates how it all comes together with great teamwork, super collaborations, and sheer hard work ... from a very big gang! I hope the client won't mind me sharing a glimpse.

During my final event of 2021, this past weekend, a colleague commented on the high number of suppliers and partners involved. I didn’t really give the observation much thought.
However, reflecting after a successful event at the culmination of another crazy year, where events and business, for some, is still fragile, it has been the most rewarding event to be around. With so many exceptional partners, suppliers, collaborators who delivered brilliantly with such a positive and grateful spirit, given the ups and downs of recent weeks, I am so happy to have partnered with each and every one.
From sparkly sequin tablecloth hire to disco-inspired furniture. Shimmer walls to Christmas ‘Gonks’. Video walls to a 'Night Fever' dancefloor. Stunning floristry and 'lights, sound, action' from brilliant AV partners. All arrived, delivered, and executed with smiley precision.
With a theme inspired by the glitter 'Queen of Kitchen Disco', Sophie Ellis Bexter, she returned from our virtual success of 2020 lockdown with husband Richard Jones for their surprise and infectious DJ set (AKA Me & Mrs Jones) followed by the super cool and talented DJ Sasha Brown.
Thanks to an amazing client, I am the luckiest and most grateful event planner to wrap each year in such style at The Savoy. To all my event partners, core team and suppliers – thank you for making me shine at this event!
