My Floral story
Welcome to my story, my name is Sam Cook, I was born and raised in the Blackburn area, my family started in the flower trade in the early 1900โs with my Great Grandpa Joe, for years he run a floristry shop based in Penny Street in the town but with the development of the market new premises needed to be found. Grandma Joe retired and my granddad Bernard Helm took on the reins, to some who might know the โold Blackburnโ might know he owned The Rose Bowl based at 16, Preston New Road, this is where my passion for all things floral began as I started working as a Saturday girl aged 14. My mum and dad took over the shop and moved premises to Mincing Lane with the development of Barbara Castle Way. Once I had left school I joined the local college to study level 2 and 3. In 2002 I applied for my dream job teaching in the same college, 15 years on and I'm still there.
