“Baby loss certificate launched to recognise parents grief”

🙏Today marks a milestone moment that I wish existed when I worked as a Deputy Registrar for Birth, Death and Marriages.

The Mariposa Trust (sayinggoodbye.org) has tirelessly campaigned for over the past 9 years.
“I’m thrilled that from today millions of families will finally get the formal acknowledgment that their baby existed and I hope this will help their grieving process”

Baby loss certificate launched to recognise parents’ grief
Baby loss certificates for parents who experienced a loss of pregnancy before 24 weeks are now available for application from 9am today (22 February 2024).

All parents who have experienced baby loss since September 2018 can apply.

They should visit the gov.uk website - applicants must be at least 16 years old, have been living in England at the time of the loss and be one of the baby's parents or surrogate.

If your pregnancy ends before 24 weeks, you can get a certificate in memory of your baby.

It’s free to get a certificate.

You do not need to request a certificate if you prefer not to. It’s optional.

The certificate is not a legal document - for example you cannot use it to claim benefits.

The certificate will not be added to your GP record.

If your pregnancy ends from 24 weeks onwards, you need to register a stillbirth instead.

🚶‍♀️I’ve just got home from my morning walk …and whilst feeling inspired I wanted to share this … coincidence 🌸

On the 13th February (what would have been my nans birthday) I received this beautiful card (and some lovely yummy fudge) from a lovely kind family I had the honour of helping for a special ceremony.

It's funny how life throws these little surprises at us. One moment you're missing someone terribly, and the next moment …boom, you feel a sense of a magic hug 🫂

The words on the card …

“You're my reminder to be a little more brave, to not be so afraid, and to remember that things will turn out okay in the long run.”

My Nan always used to say “be a little brave and less afraid”

She also used to say…

"Be thankful for what you have now, If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough, but when your thankful for everything you have - life gives you more”

I know this sounds silly but I feel so happy. It's like her way of saying, 'I might not be around, but I'll always be with you.' I know they don’t make cards in heaven or the magic place we go to after this world but … this card is a weird and very lovely coincidence that I received it on her birthday and the words touched my heart and soul in a special way - I’ll treasure this card forever THANKYOU! ❤️🌟

Big smiles to cherishing what we have, laughing at life's odd timings, and being thankful for every little thing.

And of course, to my nan, whose love keeps sprinkling her magic even from the heavens above. 👵🌈💕

I am, feeling like the luckiest person on earth.

Not one, but TWO days in a row I’ve received beautiful flowers from truly amazingly kind customers who are now and always will be cherished friends 🌼🌻

My job as a celebrant / officiant is pretty amazing. I get to play a small part in some of the happiest days and helping people on some of the saddest days of people's lives.

But life has a funny way of giving us new opportunities when we least expect them, today was my last ceremony (for a while anyways 😉 - apart from festival / farm weddings)

I'm excited to announce from this day forth I'll be focusing on the launch of our “Wedding Celebrant Training” celebrant diploma qualification school. 🎓 “THE POWER INVESTMENT IN YOU🫵”🔜

It's a whole new adventure, but if it's anything like my journey so far, I know it's going to be incredible. Plus we’ll be changing life’s and spreading so much happiness!

How many people get to say they adore their job AND get to contribute positively to others' lives every day? … “I do”🥰

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people I’ve met and had the privilege and honour to have worked with over the last few years and for your support and kindness. You've made this ride more fulfilling than I ever dreamed it could be. ❤️

So here's to more adventures, learning, and creating blooming brilliant opportunities for lovely people. 🥂

The end of one of the weirdest days of my life!

Earlier today I attended a public speaking class and had a one-on-one session with Richard Greene, who is also known as a celebrity speech coach, with clients that include the late Princess Diana of Wales and Tony Robbins!

It was an incredible experience to spend 5 full dedicated hours with him and of course we’re now friends 🤓

I had prepared a speech 🎤
This was my moment of a lifetime 🥸

“read the last paragraph to me and remember to feel every single word you speak Kelly, connect with your audience with the power of your words and remember to focus on the feeling of each and every single word”

👍 “okay dokey Richard, but are you sure you want me to read the last paragraph?”

Richard:
“yes Kelly, just the last paragraph, I want to hear the authenticity of your voice and how you leave your audience wanting more, I want you to embrace the feeling of each and every word”

😬The part I read …(whilst trying to stop my knees shaking as the light was shining bright, I was surrounded by cameras and microphones 🎙️)

Richard - “F**k, we’re not adding that”❗️and then he came up behind me and tightly wrapped his arms around me and told me for the first time in his career he was speechless and he would never forget the words “love is like a fart”

I don’t think I’ll make the final edit as the cameramen and director were in hysterics🤪

He also asked me if I was a standup comedian- which I took as a compliment 😳

It’s also a sad day for the 1st anniversary of dad’s passing today. But luckily it was lovely weather and me and Sam with Lucy and baby Lara and Hallie took my mum to the grave and we had a little sip of bubbles, raised a glass in his memory and went for tea.

Oh gosh, it's almost 5 am and I haven't slept yet. Why, you ask? Well, today marks the first-year anniversary since my dad passed away. It's going to be a bittersweet day, and I'm feeling all sorts of emotions right now. 🥹

But, it looks like fate's trying to make it up to me because today, I'm about to meet with Richard Greene, Princess Diana's speaking coach, and it's going to be a game-changer.💪

I have to remind myself - Kelly 🫵you’re an entrepreneur, a wedding and funeral celebrant, and run a licensed teaching school to the highest available diploma 3 for celebrancy, and let’s not forget I’m an antique dealer - yeehah from the cowboy 🤠

And today, I get to learn from the best about how to teach our student celebrants about killer public speaking and how to make their ceremony writing to the top level. ✍️

To be totally honest, I'm a bit starstruck and feel like I'm not good enough to meet these people. I mean, who am I after all? 😬

I’m just Kelly from mereside blackpool BUT, it's time to channel my inner superhero because I got this! (That’s what I’m telling myself) I'm here for a reason, we’re all here for a reason and we’ve one life so we have to grab each and every opportunity and not make excuses. Never in a million years have thought I’d get this far and I'm not gonna let my doubts get in the way.

Today is the day to pull up my big girl knickers and show the world what I got!

So, let's do this thing and make my Nan proud because you know she would've loved that I'm about to meet Princess Di's speaking coach and it’s going to be a double good day even though it’s a sad day for kelly from the council estate 😊 but I can feel the council estate magic, the magic from my dad, my Nan and from my magical friends is with me today! I can feel it ✨

Also tomorrow my incredible husband is finally coming home after a tough month and I can’t wait to hug 🤗 you and talk your ears off Simon Garrick

Luckily I’ve made friends with Mr Ray of sunshine and booked him for the most beautiful Scottish theme wedding today at the gorgeous Midland Hotel Morecambe

Accompanied by the lovely lady with the huge heart Sandra Summers Stringer who has been considering training with us at WCT (Wedding Celebrant Training). Sandra will train to the highest level diploma 3 that is available in the country with our approved training school that is due to be launched over the next few weeks.

Bagpiper, unity candle and lots of love and laughter were had today including asking the guests to take selfies and capture the moment their bride and groom posed for them whilst laughing hysterically!

Another fantastic day and Sandra thanks for all of your help today, you were awesome x x x ♥️

True story, enjoy your cupper tea, enjoy life x

My Nan was always full of wisdom, but I remember a time she had said something that really stayed with me.
We were sitting in her living room, and I was chatting and moaning away as she was a wonderful listener.

I went to the kitchen to make a cupper tea when I noticed all the different mugs on her shelves. They ranged from china teacups to mugs with chips in them and everything in between. I chose one of the prettier China teacups to make Nan's tea in, expecting her to be pleased by my choice.

"Be assured Kelly," said Nan softly as she sipped her cup of tea "the cup makes no difference to the taste of the tea.
" She smiled warmly with her magic twinkle in her eye before continuing "Life is like this too".

Nan paused briefly again here before adding "The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they simply make sure they enjoy what they do have".

To my surprise however, Nan just smiled and said ...
"Be assured Kel, it makes no difference what cup you use for your tea - life is like that too. Your job, friends, money etc are just tools used to contain your life but none of these things can determine its quality or how you experience it. Your job or friendships may seem like they're important right now, but they are just tools to contain life - like these cups here."

She gestured around at the various mugs and continued "The happiest people don't have the best of everything; they learn how to make the most out of what they do have."

Every time I make a brew I remember my nans words deeply as I think about how much better off I could be if only I focused more on enjoying my tea, and enjoying life, regardless of the cup/tool and focused on enjoying everything I have, instead worrying about things outside my control.

From that moment, whenever times get tough and I stress, I make a brew/ cupper tea and remember Nan's advice

A big part of my job is poetry for life events.

Last year I started trying to writing poems.

During covid restrictions and mask wearing I found it extremely difficult to hear therefore making it almost impossible for me to communicate with anyone wearing a mask.

I am hard of hearing but the mask wearing highlighted how much I relied on lip reading.

I felt completely lost, I completely lost my confidence and thought masks were here to stay and thought I wouldn’t be able to work again. I even joined a deaf charity and completed the virtual London marathon on my own - hoping I’d feel better.

This led me to thinking what other options I had and ultimately led to me creating the Wedding Celebrant Diploma School (being launched soon). Which I am proud we’re a registered training school offering the highest qualification in England & Wales and 🙏 if the law changes this year meaning wedding celebrants will legally be allowed to lead legal marriage ceremonies similar to USA officiants….. (plug for business intended 😉).

Someone once told me when things turn to s**t, the best s**t makes the most incredible fertiliser and the most beautiful flowers blossom from the fertiliser.🌹

During this period someone called me a cow 🐮 at the supermarket and that night I remember feeling a little low and looking out of my window at the huge moon.

The idea 💡 came to me about the cow jumping over the moon, maybe that meant in some weird way about overcoming huge obstacles, after all the cow jumping over the moon has to be the biggest obstacle.

As a result of being called a cow I created a cartoon character of me … a blonde (deaf, hence the huge ears) happy cow, overcoming obstacles and wrote one of my first poems.

It’s funny stumbling across this today as I also found my huge marathon medal whilst cleaning too.

I think this is a sign … everything is going to work out even though it’s taken me a little longer than originally planned.

Day 2 of the year and I hate to brag but this year I’ve stuck to my plans of being up at 5am each day, being productive and doing the best I can each day!

Yesterday I started the year on a high with my first wedding planning meeting of the year on day one of the year - I’m so lucky to have the best job in the world 🥰

On the 31st December I sat and planned out my year with wedding bookings, the wedding diploma celebrant training school calendar (being launched soon- super excited 😆)
I added my 16yr daughter important dates to my diary (exam dates, college open days) and I added lots of free dates to book family holidays to create memories.

I’m determined to make the most of every single day this year but taking each day as it comes as we can’t plan for the unplanned so I’m planning to enjoy each day as much as possible. 💕

🎄I was going to take down our Christmas tree a while ago but my daughter wanted to keep it up until after new years. Today is the day to spring clean and take down the two Christmas trees both decorated by my daughter (including the gonk topper).

Day 2 of 2023 and it’s been a fabulous year so far but counting down the days to give my husband a big squeeze for 2023 as I’ve not seen him since last year! 🤣

Santa visits heaven on Christmas Eve ❤️

On Christmas Eve Santa visits Heaven high,
To spread love and laughter to the angels in the sky.
He whispers words of cheer and joy, reminding us all that our loved ones are always nearby

Though they may not be here on Earth today,
Our hearts feel them when we remember their way.
For this Christmas, our souls need some healing,
But our angels know that we’re always feeling them with us.

Our angels watch over us from Heaven's hight, reminding us that it's alright.
The magic of Christmas brings back the past, that our pure love will always last!

So even though our loved ones may not be here for hugs and kisses this year, remember your loving angels are always near!

For Christmas of love and memories shared, we can give thanks for loving us through the tears though they’re not here in person they are always near and we give thanks to Santa for reminding us our loved ones are with us through the festive cheer.

✨✨7 Top tips for putting up the Christmas Decorations 🎄 ✨✨

🤶Christmas lights …. when you take your lights off your tree wrap them around anything flat, this way it’s easy to unravel for the following year!

🤶Plug in the lights to make sure they work BEFORE putting them on the tree

🤶Put your lights on the tree first followed by tinsel and then ball balls last

🤶Pack away all your decorations in an easy to find box for the following year … last year when the Santa aka Amazon man 👨 dropped off lots of boxes I said “just leave your massive bag thanks mate”. He did and I wrapped up the massive zip up bag and now it’s my free forever storage box - see photo 📷

🤶Be prepared it’s going to get messy, don’t scream at your daughter or dogs 🐶 or do but have the Christmas music on soooo loud it doesn’t matter, take off your jewellery before you attempt to get your tree out of the attic .. 😓 ouch…

🤶Have a photo from a previous year of the tree to remind you it’s worth the pain and the mess.

🤶Light some Christmas candles to get a nice smell or pop some mulled wine into the slow cooker for the smell of the magic

Have a little dance, cover yourself in tinsel and be happy as your bringing the happy season into your home and don’t worry if it’s messy for a day it’s ok, you can clean properly the following day x

Truth bomb 💣 I actually always dislike Christmas Day. Although I love LOVE the build up to Christmas, the films, the chocolates, the lights so if your not looking forward to Christmas Day this year don’t sweat it my friends, put up your decorations, invite some happy magic into your home, embrace Mariah Carey and allow yourself some happiness ✨

“If only” 🗯️

IF ONLY are the two most useless words together in the English language… if only…

If only I’d done this, or if only I’d done that …

I know I’m guilty of thinking 🤔 “If only”

I’m making a promise to myself … no more excuses and no more “if only”

For example tonight “If only I’d not eaten 5 slices of dominoes and the tub of chocolate brownie ice cream I wouldn’t feel like a fat sausage sat in my Percy Pig 🐷 onsize” 🤣

But hey I did and I loved the 🍕!

Life is fragile and too short. I’m enjoying life, enjoying dominoes and feeling pretty good, in fact I’d go so far to say I feel fat, funky, funny and very grateful for everyone and everything in my life 🙏

But seriously, this is a deep post for a Friday night x

I’m working on content and adding more resources to the celebrant diploma qualification (Wedding & Funeral Diplomas 🤓)course that I’m launching very soon.

The resources for celebrants consists of lots of poetry and tonight I’ve stumbled across this beautiful poem that I felt the urge to share x

Good morning my lovely Facebook friends!

This morning I’m writing my “to do lists” before I head to the promenade for my morning walk to catch the sunrise, and capture the magic.🪄

It’s 6:25am and my most favourite magical time of the day whilst the world is sleeping!

There’s only 79 days left in 2022 and I’m determined to make the most of every single day, to follow my dreams and make them a reality. I know it’s taking me a little longer than originally planned but I also know it’s ok if your plans are delayed sometimes so long as I always “fall forward” and remembering “done is better than perfect”😊

“Life is like the ocean, it goes up and down, it’s all about learning to dance through those down moments and embrace the up moments whilst creating pockets of happiness “ x
