Our production of 'Return to the Forbidden Planet' will get audiences bopping and bouncing in their seats. But who is responsible for getting the dance action sorted on stage?

Junction Four is proud to announce that the choreographer is Di Barron!

Di trained at Bush Davies, after which she had a long and varied career in professional theatre, cabaret and television. Credits include the movie Goldeneye; Stars in their Eyes (resident dancer - Granada); French & Saunders, The Russ Abbott Show, Paul Daniels Show and Ruby Wax (all for BBC) and several Royal Variety Performances (BBC).

Also, Di made fashion show appearances for Wella, Toni & Guy, Next and C&A plus she held various contracts for Arlene Phillips.

In 2016 Di choreographed the children at Lytham Festival ‘West End Proms’ – for Cuffe and Taylor - performing alongside Broadway and West End stars Lea Salonga, Jon Lee, Jodie Prenger, Ruthie Henshall and Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro.

Di has proudly been Children’s Director/Company Choreographer for The Christie Musical Theatre Company since its inception in 2011, most recently choreographing their award-winning 10th Anniversary Production of Gypsy.

A superb theatrical presence in Blood Brothers, but also a kind hearted community champion.

January Blues? Weather getting you down? Anxious about the year ahead? Trouble sleeping?

There are many reasons why you may need tips on boosting your mental health and general wellbeing at the moment.

Which is why Junction Four is hosting two HEALTH AND WELLBEING Afternoons, with Grace and Mike, from the NHS Talking Therapies Team.

MONDAY 13th (1pm to 3pm) the focus will be on anxiety and stress.
MONDAY 20th (1pm to 3pm) the focus will be on mood and sleep.

Anyone who wants to protect their mental health is welcome, though the FREE sessions are also ideal for anyone locally who has depression or anxiety.

There will be coffee and cake, but also a safe space to talk or listen, and to get wellbeing tips and tricks you can use in your daily life.

No need to book – just come along to the Junction Four Productions studio (Unit 8 Woodside Whitehills Business Park) just off the M55 and not far from the Lytham St Annes Way.

📚 OPEN AUDITIONS – MATILDA THE MUSICAL UK TOUR 📚

The RSC are looking for children for the UK touring production of Matilda The Musical.

Q: HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO AUDITION?

The RSC will audition children for the role of Matilda who are aged 9 to 12 on 1 July 2025, and under 4’3” tall. Her classmates need to be aged 9 to 13 on 1 July 2025. Boys must be under 4’10” tall, and girls must be under 4’6” tall, with brilliant dancing and singing skills! Boys must have unbroken voices.

Q: WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE AUDITIONS FOR MATILDA AND HER CLASSMATES?

Auditions will be held in Manchester during February and March 2025

Q: WHAT DATES DO I NEED TO BE AVAILABLE?

Rehearsals – July and August 2025, in Manchester and London
Performances – September 2025 to June 2026, on tour

All children must be available for the entire rehearsal and performance period. Holidays will only be allowed during nominated holiday weeks, and parents must be able to bring their child to the Manchester rehearsal rooms, The Palace Theatre and/or Manchester Piccadilly train station.

Q: WHAT IF I LIVE OUTSIDE MANCHESTER?

Children for all the roles must be within travelling distance of Manchester, so they can live at home and attend their own schools. You must live within one hour of central Manchester.

Q: WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO IN THE AUDITION?

You will be asked to perform a short poem, speech or monologue. You will also be asked to sing something and you will be taught a dance from the show.

Q: WHAT TO DO NEXT?

If you’d like to audition, you will need to complete an online form. Before starting the form, the RSC would like you to make two or three 30 second films on your phone. These are sometimes called a self-tape. The quality doesn’t matter, and please, no longer than 30 seconds.

1 A 30 second speech, poem or monologue
2 A 30 second song (unaccompanied)
3 A 30 second dance (optional)

JOIN US ON STAGE IN 'AN INSPECTOR CALLS'!

If you enjoy theatre or have ever wanted to experience treading the boards -- we want you!
Stephen Daldry’s seminal National Theatre production of An Inspector Calls is touring to Blackpool Grand from 25th Feb - 1st Mar and we are currently seeking a volunteer walk-on community crowd to be a part of the production.
Each week, we invite three local children and eight local adults to take on a voluntary walk-on role within the production, in keeping with the show's strong message about the importance of community and societal unity.

When is a pool noodle not a pool noodle?

When it's an exotic plant under the sea, thanks to the creativity of Junction Four's props and sets design service.

This was used earlier this year for a production of The Little Mermaid, and the theatre company involved said "Huge thanks to the amazing Junction Four Productions for helping to make our Little Mermaid grotto. The show was a huge hit and dealing with this company was an absolute pleasure."

Anyone doing the Little Mermaid 2025, or some other aquatic-based show? For under-the-sea scenery or theming, pick up your shelly-phone, tell us the tail of what you need and we will create enchanting items for you!

We need a volunteer - someone willing to spend a few hours in great company, doing vital admin tasks for our increasingly popular Props Hire service (which runs as a charity).

Junction Four's purpose-created workshop and rehearsal space now has a vast collection of props and event dressings - including our new fake flower shop! The existing volunteers and The Shed participants are kept busy, so they need help tracking the items and managing the database.

If you know someone with a few hours to spare each week - who loves the theatre, brews and biscuits, and a good laugh - please point them our way.
