Happy Christmas
Happy Christmas everyone from JSTD and Primary Ballet
Hope you are all enjoying the run up to Christmas.
Thought you’d enjoy watching Saturday Pre-Primary Ballet doing “The Reindeer Dance”
This is an old favourite in our school, some of you may remember it from your own children at Christmas.
It never fails to bring a smile to your face.
Well done ballerinas .
Welcome to our new TuesdayDance Class
We have a new class this term. Primary tap and jazz is now available on a Tuesday as well as a Saturday morning.
The girls are doing an exercise called “The Pond.”. It’s just one example of a very fun syllabus that teaches the children the basics of Jazz technique in a very engaging way. The class also incorporates tap dance, always a favourite.
If you have or know of any little girls or boys this may appeal to message me below for more details . Alternatively drop me an email to [email protected] or text 07590751999.

Still on a mission to be flat in front splits
Yes we are still working on becoming more supple.
We’ve hit a bit of a wall as many are almost flat but the last couple of inches is the hardest.
10/10 for effort to the grade 3 and 4 Jazz class who are working hard to get there,
Two and a half months to the show we will have to increase our efforts.
Preparing for our April Tap and Modern exams
Quite a few of our tap and jazz students are busy preparing for upcoming exams in April.
A typical graded jazz exam would include up to 20 separate exercises an amalgamation and dance . So a lot of work and a lot of practicing to be done.
One of the excersises is a rhythm section including a set rhythm which we put our own movement to.
Tne video shows grade 2 and 4 exam candidates working on their set rhythms. The grade 2s have also clapped and counted their rhythm to give you an idea of how it works.
