What a stunning photo from of the nicest of couples Chloe and Josh who honored us by holding their wedding at Milton Abbey last summer. The whole day was planned fairly last minute due to work commitments but they put together a wonderful celebration for their families and friends on this happiest of days. We held a delightful winter wedding celebration for Kat and Peter this weekend, decorated throughout with local seasonal foliage. Technically it was a blessing and reception, as the couple tied the knot in the Abbey last year with guests limited by Covid restrictions at the time.

The group were great fun, with plenty of entertainment arranged during the day. From magicians and cocktail making, to classical music recitals and a rip-roaring band.

Despite the difficulties of the last year or so we were lucky enough at Milton Abbey to host two full weddings over the summer with two of the loveliest couples I’ve been privileged to work with. Here is one of them, the happiest of newlyweds surveying the Abbot’s Hall just before their wedding breakfast having put their wedding plans together in just a few short weeks. Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs R. 🔔

We're pleased to say that our Tea Rooms - which are being relaunched as The Coffee Bar to better reflect what's on offer - is now open to the public!

Each day during school holidays we will have great coffee, tea and hot chocolate on offer, alongside cakes, cookies, ice creams and other snacks.

If you want something more filling, visit us for a breakfast bap, hot toastie or panini.

The Coffee Bar will be open daily from 9am to 5pm until Tuesday 31st August, apart from a period of closure from Sunday 1st to Sunday 15th August for a private booking.

You can also pre-book a golf round by visiting www.golfnow.co.uk - perhaps enjoy a breakfast bap and coffee before teeing off!

This new sign on our front gate will clearly show when the school site is open to the public.

We are delighted to announce that the Golf Course will re-open to the public from Saturday 3rd July 2021!

To manage the security of the school site in term-time and to offer a better experience to golfers, the course is now only open to the public during school holiday times. All rounds must also be paid for in advance, using our new booking partner, Golf Now, the largest online golf platform in the UK.

At Milton Abbey we are proud to be hosting this 5k/10k fun run in aid of a cause very close to our heart. The run on Sunday 4th July 2021 is a great opportunity to get fit, challenge yourself and have fun in a the most beautiful of settings. Please join us if you can, either to run yourself or show your support for those taking part. Food trucks are available and the whole will be using Covid safe protocols. Hope you see you here then!

A lovely couple who waited over a year to finally get married at Milton Abbey. Only a few family and friends were able to attend but it was still a stunningly beautiful and moving ceremony. We are sorry to let you know that the Golf Course is likely to remain closed until at least September.

Unlike many other clubs, as you know, we aren't solely a golf course, and therefore our site is a little more complex. The whole school site remains closed for the wellbeing of residents, plus the infrastructure changes that would need to be made to reopen any part of the site.

Other golf clubs have been able to reopen with monitoring of social distancing measures and regular patrols by staff. This has never been the approach at Milton Abbey and we don't have the staff to put in place such measures, especially when many are currently furloughed.

The earliest we could reopen the course is September, when the rest of the school site is due to reopen. However, at this time, we will also need to make school-wide decisions, based on the guidance at the time, as to whether we should encourage regular visitors onto the site, or whether it should remain primarily a closed site for the safety of resident pupils and staff.

I am sorry this is not the most positive position to be in for our golfers, but I hope you can appreciate the complexities of our specific circumstances.

We will automatically roll-over the unused portion of this year's membership into next year and members have already been contacted with the options of refunding this unused portion if they prefer.

Following the Government announcement yesterday, we would like to clarify that our Golf Course remains closed.

This reflects our whole site closure and the need to maintain a safe and secure environment. Although this will be disappointing for some of you, it is imperative that we continue to put the health of golf club members and our resident staff first, as we make our way through these challenging times.

We are of course, constantly reviewing our position and will keep you all updated of any changes as swiftly as possible.

In the meantime, we are making the most of the opportunity to repair areas of the course that were severely flooded earlier in the year.

We will automatically extend any active memberships by the period of time that the site is closed and have also contacted members giving them the option to receive a pro-rata refund or to donate that money to the Milton Abbas COVID-19 Support fund.

On Monday the decision was made to close the Milton Abbey site and for staff and pupils to work and learn from home.
It is disappointing that various events and weddings have had to be postponed but we look forward to coming back stronger than ever.
Milton Abbey has stood proud for hundreds of years and will weather this storm too.
We at Milton Abbey Weddings and Events are looking forward to the day we can return and offer our lovely wedding couples and event holders the same stunning venue and great service we have always been so proud of.

We have taken the decision to temporarily close the golf course until Saturday 28 March 2020.

In light of the rapidly-changing coronavirus situation in the UK and worldwide, we are limiting non-critical visitors to the site until the school breaks up for Easter on Friday 27th March 2020. This is not due to any specific risks at Milton Abbey and we have not closed the school, but are taking common sense precautions to limit exposure to the virus within our close-knit community.

We will review this close to the Easter holiday and provide an update.

Unfortunately for our Golf Club members, the course is currently so wet that we've had to close it for safety reasons.

The weather doesn't look much better for the next few days, so we will next reassess it on Monday in the hope that people can still enjoy a Christmas week round or two!
