Did you know that 60% of our emissions come from audience transport?

We recently calculated our carbon footprint for the year 2023-2034.

This is a great way to track a sustainability journey and see where progress needs to be made.

Why not calculate your own carbon footprint and find out what you can improve on? You can do this for free online in minutes!

Or find out our carbon footprint breakdown by following this link: https://intobodmin.co.uk/carbon-footprint-analysis/

Dave Hunter was a great supporter of intoBodmin and we will always be grateful that he walked through our doors. Dave quickly became a key member of our Wednesday night Open Stage crew and an intoBodmin friend.

Event though Dave hadn’t performed in over 10 years, he was tempted onto the stage once again by the friendly faces and supportive atmosphere of Open Stage Bodmin. He then continued to perform and support our events in any way he could.

Dave loved music and was passionate about providing and enjoying spaces that allowed people from all walks of life to come together to socialise, be creative and simply keep each other company by sharing stories, jokes, music and laughter.

We were very saddened to hear the news of Dave’s passing and send our love and sympathy to his family and friends.

There will be an open mic night arranged by Dave’s son, Mark Hunter and supported by intoBodmin on Saturday 5th October for Dave’s friends, family and members of the community that knew Dave to celebrate his life together, sharing stories, jokes and music.

If you wish to perform, tell a 'dad' joke or simply attend please contact Mark Hunter: [email protected] 07858455670

Did you know that food grown in the garden gets eaten in the cafe?

That’s right! The specials board in the café is always changing and this allows us to include food that has been grown in the garden. This massively reduces emissions as the food miles become just a few steps. It also means that the food is at its freshest and tastes the best.

There are many other things that we have been doing at intoBodmin to keep emissions to a minimum.

For example

-Reducing the usage of single use plastics

-Composting as much waste as possible

-Reducing energy usage through solar panels and increasing efficiency.

Why not share a sustainable switch that you have made in the comments.

Did you know that 72% of our audience gets here by car?

As an organisation we have been working to reduce our carbon emissions and now we need your help!

Audience transport makes up around 60% of our carbon emissions as an organisation, with the majority of this coming from car journeys.

Whilst we understand that being in a rural area cars become the default; over half of our audience lives within walking distance of the venue! There are also several public transport options available if this is not possible.

To find out more about getting to us sustainably please follow the link bellow to the getting here page on our website.

We are changing our walking bus!!!
We have spoken to people who have joined this project and to some people who haven't but would be interested in a weekly walk.
We were able to discuss this with our funders who have kindly agreed that we make a change now so that people in Bodmin are receiving what they would prefer in their community.
From next week we will be offering a weekly walk, leaving and returning to The Old LIbrary with a free hot drink included. These walks will be agreed by the group and will include a variety of areas and locations in Bodmin. This week the walk will take you up to the Beacon.
Debbie, your walk leader will be able to support conversation, point out items of interest, and generally support you to enjoy a walk each week in any weather (We may avoid typhoons should they occur)
There is no need to book for this. Just turn up on the day.
Leaving The Old Library at 10 am on Tuesday mornings.

This is Daisy, she has been working with us this summer on our environmental action plan on an internship.

Daisy lives in Bodmin and studies Geography at Exeter Uni and with the summer approaching she wanted to work in Bodmin, doing something she was interested in that was linked to her studies and her local community......

"I found out about access to internships through Uni. It's all about widening participation with the aim of giving people from all backgrounds better opportunities to gain paid work experience. It's available to anyone in Bodmin who is studying at Exeter, Falmouth or Penryn.

I knew about intoBodmin through my Dad and my sister - she is one of the young ambassadors that gives feedback and advice to the Directors at Board Meetings.

I've been working on creating signage and information for sharing, analysing wastage and tracking intoBodmin's year on year progress. I hope to have a positive environmental impact on intoBodmin, both in the organisation and in the town. I like the idea of sharing what we are doing with other people in case it inspires them to make a change.

I've really enjoyed doing something completely different, in a new setting, meeting cool people with exciting ideas! "

We'll be sharing some of Daisy's work on socials over the next couple of weeks and also as blog posts on our website. We wish Daisy loads of luck for returning back to her 2nd year of Uni and thank her for all her hard work. We will miss you!
