And so another season comes to an end and in typical Eagley fashion, it was a mixed one for our senior sides.

The firsts ended the season really strongly, beating 3rd placed Padiham away to finish 8th in the NWCL Premiership table.

Our second team however were not a match for Padiham Cricket Club , who we'd like to congratulate on winning the Conference 2 title! Still a great second half of the season though for our young team and I'm sure they will improve again next season and win a lot more games!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed towards the club this year, whether it be doing pitches, running players to training and matches or simply buying a pint at the bar.

You might have also noticed a shiny new addition down at the ground in the last couple of weeks too, more to come on that later!! 👀

Such sad news. Was a lovely man and fine umpire 😢 Our condolences to his friends and family...

Local umpire Suresh Patel had died following recent health issues. Born in Tanzania in 1955, he moved with his parents to India in 1964, before arriving in the UK in 1976.

Suresh met his wife Christine in 1984, they settled in Bolton and had four children plus grandchildren.

He started umpiring in 1990 in midweek cricket in Bolton and was encouraged to take his umpiring exams by the late Fred Elmore. In the Bolton League he umpired two Hamer Cup finals, and outside the Bolton League officiated in two Lancashire KO semi finals, and the ECB Village Cup Final at York C.C.

Apart from his umpiring activities, Suresh was a Level 2 coach, and was an official for a number of years in the Bolton Cosmopolitan League, as well as being an active member of the former Bolton League Umpires' Association.
