Our Farm
We are very fortunate to be the third generation of our family who have taken care of this beautiful farm and its medieval buildings and though farming has changed a lot over the last seven centuries, the Great Barn still stands as a stunning reminder of much older times.
The Great Barn is one of the largest timber framed buildings in the South East, parts of which date back to the 13th century. Situated next to the Grade II* listed Manor House, the tithe barn has stood here for over 700 years and has now been recently opened up to the public to allow people the chance to enjoy such an inspiring and historic space.
Our family has always loved the farm’s rich and diverse habitats, from the hedgerows and meadows to the ancient buildings themselves. Through careful management and determination we have recently seen successful breeding of Barn Owls and Little Owls on the farm. We have also maintained and encouraged a large bat population within the farmhouse and barns for many species, recently including the rare Barbastelle bat.
