This is just to formally announce that unfortunately we will not be hosting the annual Christmas Charity Luncheon this year. This event has been brilliant to host and we have always been amazed by your support and generosity year on year since we started back at AFCB in 2013.
Due to the unbelievable events of 2020 with COVID-19 we made a decision not to run the event this year and with the ongoing situation regarding restrictions, we felt it was not appropriate to put any plans in place in case of disappointment.
In addition to COVID-19, however the Marsham Court Hotel have advised us that they will be carrying out renovations between December 2020 and January 2021 so the venue would not be available for us anyway.
I would also like to (rather sadly) announce that AFCB Ability Counts is no more. Katy is still fully committed to her work with Fulham FC, however neither she nor Mary are involved with AFCB anymore. Additionally, we felt for a variety of other reasons that our association with Community Sports Trust (the trustees of the funding for Ability Counts) was no longer viable.
Our goal was always to help raise funds for Ability Counts because of the incredible work they did and because they had a shortfall in funding from their associated partners (CST). This goal was achieved in incredible ways for 7 years, however various factors have contributed to a conclusion of that goal.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you personally for your unwavering support of this event and for the generosity and spirit you have shown every year.
We are absolutely committed to re-starting the Christmas Charity Luncheon again in 2021 with a new look, new focus and fresh outlook so please keep an eye out for our communications in 2021.
I hope you and all your families, friends and loved ones are all well and managing to get through this unprecedented situation.
With much regards and hope for the future, Neil, Adam and Keith.
