Cool Coast Ice Rink, the South Coast’s largest seasonal indoor ice-skating rink, returns to Bournemouth International Centre this month 🥳

Last year, the popular attraction saw more than 40,000 attendances. And this year there are lots of new sessions to accommodate even more!

We’re really pleased to be able to deliver a more accessible experience this year by providing advanced skate sessions and relaxed sessions. We hope that these new sessions provide a more welcoming and enjoyable experience for all 👏

Thanks to a multimillion-pound partnership project between BCP Council and BH Live, facilities and event spaces at Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) have recently been refurbished - and we think they look great! 💙

Two of the venue’s event spaces have been completely remodelled, with enhancements including a modernised foyer, brand-new glazing, improved outdoor signage, and new bathroom facilities. The Purbeck Lounge has also been refurbished and repurposed to create a more modern look and feel, increasing capacity, and improving ambience to capitalise on the venue's stunning coastal views 🌊

Ensuring the BIC and its facilities continue to attract large-scale events such as conferences, exhibitions, and festivals supports local employment, promotes town regeneration, and drives footfall into Bournemouth town 🎉

This investment has been made as part of our wider commitment to introduce sustainable measures across our centres and venues 👏

This year, we invested more than £100k into energy efficiency measures to reduce energy wastage and improve our overall carbon footprint 🌱

We are proud to be supporting this year’s Captioning Awareness Week, an annual campaign led by Stagetext, a deaf-led charity bringing text-based deaf access to arts and culture through captions and subtitles 💙

Did you know that 18 million adults in the UK are deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing? That’s one in three people that could benefit from captions or subtitles to experience the joy of live events.

This year, the cast of JACK AND THE BEANSTALK 🌱 (Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre) and SNOW WHITE & THE SEVEN DWARFS 🍎 (Fairfield Halls) have highlighted this year's relaxed and captioned panto performances to raise awareness of the importance of accessibility. Watch the videos below to find out more:

A project to transform artificial training pitches at BH Live Active, Pelhams in North Bournemouth has completed - and they look great! ⚽

The centre’s outdoor five-a-side pitches were resurfaced with the latest in 3G rubber crumb technology to replicate a traditional football pitch. New kickboards, netting and fencing were also installed to improve the player's experience as part of a £240K investment from BH Live 🎉

Maddison, Arsenal football goalie for the women's U21 team, regularly trains at the centre through the FANS (Free Access for National Sportspeople) membership scheme. Maddison visited the centre to celebrate the completion of the project. Thanks for coming, Maddison! 👋

Today, presenters Ed Sault from BBC South Today and Steve Harris from BBC Radio Solent will be swapping their studios for swimming pools as they take on The Thousand Mile Challenge for BBC Children in Need 🏊

Swim teams at BBC radio stations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will attempt to swim 24 miles each – adding up to that one thousand mile total. That’s 64,000 lengths of a 25m pool! 💛

We've heard that Pudsey may be making an appearance at BH Live Active, Littledown too 🐻 Keep your 👀 peeled for updates!

The cast will be joining the Mayor for the big Christchurch Christmas Lights Switch On at 5pm on Saturday 23 November 2024 - it's going to be fee-fi-fabulous!🎄

Last week, Dame Dilly Donut (Croydon panto favourite - Jamie Steen) and the Wicked Queen (Kellie Shirley - Eastenders, Biff & Chip, Casualty) from Fairfield Halls' upcoming SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS panto delivered free reading sessions at Croydon Central Library to more than 75 children 🍎

As well as enjoying a fairytale story, library visitors enjoyed a fun Q&A with the stars to find out more about the magic of panto and this year’s cast👑

The sessions encouraged local children to discover the joys of reading through the magic of panto ✨

What a lovely blog about how our BH Live Active exercise referral team is supporting people in our community through a 'One Step At A Time' programme in partnership with the Wright Foundation CIC.

This initiative was developed to provide group walking sessions for individuals affected by cancer within BH Live Active, Littledown's beautiful parkland 🍃

Sessions encourage participants to ease back into physical activity within a supportive social community. Walks happen every Thursday and are supported by funding through NHS Charities Together 💙

A recent Sport England survey has shown that sports and physical activity are creating annual savings of £10.5 billion for the NHS and social care sector! 💙

The weekend was packed with competitions, activities, and tons of talent! 🤩 We hope everyone who came had a fantastic time!

More people are participating in regular physical activity at BH Live Active, Pelhams in Kinson, North Bournemouth thanks to a significant investment from BH Live 💙

Over the past 12 months, more than 4,200 hours of lessons have been delivered to pupils of all ages and abilities, with the centre recording more than 190,000 visits to group classes and the gym and over 66,000 swims! 🏊💪

The hard work and dedication of our team means thousands of people are enjoying the benefits of staying regularly active 👏

Did you know that Portsmouth Gymnastics Centre has its own adult squad? 🧡

Our coaching team encourages budding gymnasts of all ages and abilities to have fun staying active through adult taster sessions held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays every week 🤸

This summer, 22 gymnasts from the centre's adult squad competed in the British Adult Championships across several disciplines of gymnastics. The squad was outstanding, earning 10 gold, 17 silver and 6 bronze national medals across the competitions 🏅

It's great to see that we are encouraging more visitors across the city to have fun staying active by discovering a new sport!
