THE ONE WITH… A MAGNIFICENT PRINCESS SKIRT

THE ONE WITH… CONTEMPORARY STATEMENT LACE
Oxsana’s standout feature is the stunning ornate lace, decorated with light-catching sparkle, that swirls across the bodice. The elegant strips of sequins and beads are not something we’ve seen before, and we love them! It’s a beautifully modern take on the luxury glitter trend.

All this fabulous detail is offset by a flared tulle A-line with beautiful volume and bounce, thanks to the horsehair hem. There’s also quality craftsmanship underneath the wow-factor bodice, and the form-hugging, lace-up back will give you great support and shape.

This dress deserves high-end, suitably regal accessories, like our princess tiara paired with a classic veil. What’s more, the stylish lace-covered, off-the-shoulder straps are detachable. Know your silhouette! 👰

This week we are going to look at the Sheath silhouette.

Sexy, elegant and effortless, sheath wedding dress shapes create an understated silhouette. This style is often made from light and flowing fabrics, such as crepe, chiffon or tulle. Some designs fit like a slip dress, closely tracing your body’s outline. Others drape a little straighter, like a column. Both are a good choice for petite brides or those wary of being overwhelmed by lots of fabric, as the long, straight lines have a lengthening effect.

SHEATHS: HOW TO WEAR
When it comes to the detailing, sheaths range from sleek and simple to heavily embellished with head-to-toe beading. This style looks particularly amazing with a statement lace train but, if you want a small train this is also the perfect choice. For the neckline, delicate spaghetti straps work well with the slim silhouette. However, off-the shoulder straps, plunging modern V-necks front and back or full-length lace sleeves are also gorgeous on a sheath. This is a look that can be quite contemporary or, with the addition soft lace, a bohemian bride’s dream. Sheath gowns are often lightweight and understated too, so are an excellent choice for an informal or beach celebration.

Timescales are tedious!

At WED2B we offer an off the peg business model, meaning that when you find your dream dress with us you get to take her home the same day... How great is that??? 🛍

There is no lead times on our wedding dresses, Flower Girls, or accessories, so we can facilitate brides with minimal timescales. In Bournemouth we have had a bride before that visited us on a Thursday late night to enquire about maternity gowns. She gave birth to her lovely daughter on the Monday, returned to store on Wednesday to purchase the Sara gown and got married on Saturday 😮 I can hear you all gasp from here!
We are just that great!!

There is a lead time on our bridesmaids gowns, which is 14 weeks. However, we even offer a 8 week rush order service for these as well.

We regularly post our new stock on Facebook and Instagram, but do keep in mind that there are 39 WED2B stores in the UK, occasionally it can take a little longer to get the stock out to each and every store. To combat this we have an AMAZING Customer Care team, that you can reach out to and chase down your dream dress, seeing if/when it is coming to your local store.

There is a common misconception that wedding dresses can be bought to size and not need alterations... this just isn't true! EVERY wedding dress will need an element of alterations to ensure the dress fits you perfectly. For instance, many wedding dresses are modelled on a 5'11" women, and many of us are not this tall so will require a hem alteration. This is why at WED2B we recommend to allow at least 8-10 weeks for your alterations were you can. Of course, if you are on a tighter timescale then the alterations can still be done, but this may incur additional charges, so do keep that in mind.

So this weeks WED2B wisdom is that we can provide you with a full bridal look there and then, no wait necessary. No appointment needed, so we remain flexible around your schedule. We also have an amazing list of seamstresses that are used to our gowns and alteration timescales.

Know your silhouette! 👰

This week we are looking at the Ballgown silhouette!

he ballgown, also known as a ‘princess gown’, is the classic fairytale silhouette. Featuring a full skirt and a structured bodice, the two combined are brilliant for emphasising your natural waistline. The difference between an A-line and a ballgown is the volume at the waist, as ballgowns have gathers or pleats whereas an A-line has a smooth waist with a simple seam. Ballgowns are dramatic and the largest of the bridal silhouettes, so it’s ideal for most body types (although it can sometimes overwhelm smaller frames).

BALLGOWNS: HOW TO WEAR
The quintessential ballgown look is a strapless sweetheart design with plenty of intricate detailing and sparkle, perfect for princes brides. Plus, the more volume the better with this style, so try wearing it with a ballgown underskirt too. Ballgowns also look great with off-the-shoulder straps and a lace-up back, which suit the fairy-tale feel. For a more modern take on the silhouette, simply look for less detailing and fabrics such as Mikado for crisp, contemporary lines. Budget-wise, ballgown dresses can be a little more expensive due to the extra material and detailing. However, trust us, it’s worth every penny for the grand entrance you’ll make!

There is such a thing as Bridal Blindness 🙈

This is when a bride has tried on too many dresses and all of the gowns seem to blur into one. Brides often begin to forget their favourite elements and become increasingly confused... this is a dangerous place to be in on your bridal journey because it is very easy for a bride to begin focusing on negatives and insecurities.

WED2B offer a tried and tested method in assisting you to find your dream dress in a painless and exciting manner, and due to our Bridal Experts being on hand every step of the way, Bridal Blindness rarely occurs with us when a journey is started in our store.

However, we do unfortunately have brides that come to us after a day of appointments or an unstructured boutique fitting, utterly confused and deflated. This is not what you want for your bridal journey at all!

At WED2B Bournemouth we follow a few simple steps that not only simplifies your bridal journey, but also provides giggles and endless fun. These are:

🤍 Remain open-minded - It is easy to romanticise over Pinterest images that are set in stunning venues, but these set unrealistic expectations and none of the images are you. When you are collecting images and building albums, remember these are inspirational. (Genuinely, if I had a £1 for every time a bride came in with a image she wanted, but left with something completely different I would be living in Bali not Bournemouth.)
🤍 Base before topping - It is important that you find your wedding dress silhouette/ shape (Pizza Base) before you hone in on all the other finer details such as neckline, fabric, straps etc (Pizza Toppings). This is because when focusing on your toppings first you may create a vision (Pizza) that is not a realistic combination. This happens quite a lot in store but is really easy to overcome because we are the Bridal Experts. There are only 7 silhouettes of wedding dresses in the world:
*Ballgown
*A-Line
*Fit & Flare/ Drop waist
*Mermaid/ Fishtail / Trumpet
*Sheath
*Column
*Tea-Length
Do not let yourself get bamboozled into thinking there are 100's more, there aren't.
🤍 Compare and Eliminate - This is a very simple process to follow. As you try on gowns, you will find yourself liking certain elements over others. You will also find yourself comparing one dress to others tried... This is comparing. Everything that doesn't meet the dream expectation, naturally is eliminated. Once something is eliminated it is best practice to then keep it as such. (If you don't like Anchovies we aren't going to like them on our Pizza are we... they are an eliminated topping).
🤍 Don't feel pressure - It is important that you remember that your bridal journey is meant to be fun and positive. We hear it all the time that brides are stressed or feel pressured because of timescales... just let it go. At WED2B you can spend as long as you like with us and because we are off the peg you go home with your dress the same day.
🤍 Speed date something different - When you are on your wedding dress journey, make sure you do challenge yourself to try something different. Even if it is a big NO NO, at least you have tied it and can confidently eliminate that option.

Know your silhouette!

This week we are looking at the Soft A-Line/ Column Silhouette.

If you like the look of an A-line style, then chances are you’ll also love a slim A-line. It comes with all the great qualities of its sister silhouette but fits a little closer to the body. The skirt is less flared, making this a gorgeous style for a boho wedding or a sunny ‘barefoot on the beach’ do.
Slim A-lines are often composed of the lightest weight fabrics and have no petticoats. This is generally reflected in the bodice too, which may have minimal construction and a simple lace designs. As it has less material, a slim A-line can be a more budget friendly option and is definitely easier to travel with than larger styles!

Let's talk about feelings! 🤗

If I was to ask how many of you have watched 'Say Yes to the Dress', I am confident lots of Bournemouth brides will say "yes".
Now if I asked you all to describe the brides reaction to her dress, I am confident again that the response would be exceedingly varied.

Some may say it's dramatic, others may say it's romantic... there is nothing wrong with these perceptions. However, it does unfortunately paint a picture that the tears and drama are the 'norm' when finding your dress.... IT'S NOT!!

We are all different, and react differently in situations. Some ladies relish the experience and explode with yelps of joy and happy tears, on the complete other end of the spectrum (this is literally the reaction of our Bournemouth Manager when she found her dress) the bride may display a cool, calm, and collected approach and just ask for the price and to go to the till.

There is nothing wrong with either of these reactions.

Don't forget that the more dresses you try on, the 'sparkle' may begin to fade... this isn't a negative. It possibly means that it is time to refocus and refresh your expectations from what you have learnt so far in your journey. As soon as you realign your journey, those feeling will return.

If you are getting a little confused about your feelings, then ask yourself the following 3 questions:
🤍 How does this dress make me feel? on a scale 1-5 (1=Not for me/ 5=YES! YES! YES!)
🤍 Can you see yourself in this dress walking down your aisle towards your fiancé?
🤍 Do you love YOU in this dress?

The WED2B wisdom here is to trust yourself. We all react differently to situations, this is normal. Do not get carried away with the reality TV perception, this is NOT normal.

Know your silhouettes! 👰

This week we are going to focus on the A-Line silhouette!

If you’re not sure where to start with wedding dress shapes, then the universally flattering A-line is the one to try first. It’s a timeless bridal silhouette that never goes out of style. Fitted at the chest to highlight your natural waist, it flows out gradually into an ‘A’ shape, with plenty of freedom and movement at the hips. The balanced proportions work brilliantly to draw the eyes upwards. It also creates a beautiful nipped in waist, making it super flattering for all. What’s more, this shape can be found in both lightweight, floaty gowns and ones with more structure and volume.

A LINES: HOW TO WEAR
An A-line silhouette is the classic bridal look and probably the first one people picture when they think of a wedding dress. Therefore, it obviously lends itself to a very traditional wedding day. However, with a few modern twists this adaptable style can suit any type of celebration. Try it in sleek Mikado or with a sexy split for a modern do, with lace and beautiful long sleeves for princess-worthy perfection or in lightweight tulle for a softer boho feel. We told you it was versatile!

It also works well with lots of design features, from off-the-shoulder straps and sweetheart necklines to illusion or keyhole backs. This means an A-line shape is a great foundation for any number of looks. Add a sweetheart neckline or lots of sparkling embellishment and it's super romantic. Alternatively, go for a plunging V-neck and simple spaghetti straps for something more contemporary. Don't forget, the amount of embellishment and detailing will also have an affect on the price, too.
