Veil talk lovelies… 🤍

I do love a beautiful full-length embellished veil, 🤍 do you?

Are you still considering whether to wear a veil on your wedding day?
A veil might not be first on your list of bridal accessories to try but don’t rule a veil out… (often brides do). With my experience of styling brides and helping them to choose their bridal accessories to go with there dress, veils are always definitely worth a try. Even the most reluctant bride may in the end choose the most simple veil to complement her wedding hair and dress. You don’t necessarily need to opt for a long and elaborate veil either, the most modest veil can really elevate your ‘bridal look’.

Not sure where to start with veil choice?
Obviously, your veil type and style will depend on the silhouette and fabrication of your chosen dress eg… if there’s detailing on your dress, this is something to consider when choosing your veil type. So, initially I would suggest starting with a simple medium length veil (that finishes just past your lower hip line). Then elevate your veil design and style from there, to see what length and style of veil compliments your dress and overall ‘bridal look’ best.

Recently engaged? Thinking of starting your dress search? If so, you’re possibly thinking 🤔 what next.

Here’s just a few of my top tips when starting think about finding ‘the one’ and making an bridal appointment.

• Inspiration - start scrolling and searching the web for your favourite wedding dress styles. Put together a few Pinterest boards of your favourite dress and you’ll soon see elements of dresses or a particular style which appeals to you.

• Boutique stalk - make a list of the bridal boutiques you wish to visit. Hop on their website and social media pages to see if a particular boutique stocks the style of dresses which stand out on your Pinterest boards or camera roll. Also take a look at their designers websites. Good research into the boutiques you wish to visit will make your dress search much easier.

• Your appointment guests -
consider who you would like to attend your first bridal appointment with you and initially, at your first appointment limit your guests to maybe say 2. Too many guests can lead to too many options, which can lead to confusion. So take your closest allies who know you well and in opinions you trust to your first appointment.

“From the moment I walked in to the boutique, I knew it was a special place and I was made to feel immediately comfortable. In one visit, and trying on some beautiful dresses I found “the one”, which Julia had picked out for me! I instantly fell in love with the dress, and knew it had to be that one. I was so excited when it arrived into the boutique and I could try on my dress! Due to our wedding being postponed, Julia
beautifully packed my dress into a box I bought until it was time to
start the fitting process, between which time we found out that we were expecting a baby. This meant I would be 17 weeks on our wedding day, and I was convinced I would not be able to wear the dress. Julia was absolutely amazing - she immediately put me at ease, reassuring me she would do all she could too adapt the dress to fit. I had no doubt I could trust Julia, and she did an incredible job and worked her magic to adapt the dress, and I could not have felt more amazing on my wedding day! I will be forever grateful for all the work that went in to it.”

Recently, many of you have asked about the Couture Service I offer here at the JTBC atelier. So over the course of the weekend, I’ll be sharing more details about my Couture Service, as well as a few of my beautiful Couture brides. 🤍

// COUTURE //

Google the definition of the word Couture and you’ll read ~ a one-of-a-kind garment created to a specific clients requirements and measurements. But in fact, Couture is more than this... it’s a journey. A journey we can take together over a matter of months, working collaboratively to bring your wedding dress from your vision to reality. 🤍

Couture is a process. For me, it’s hours and hours of cutting, stitching, fitting and hand finishing... a labour of love really. For you, it’s a dream dress experience you’ll never forget! 🤍

The process starts with a design consultation. Once your dress design and fabrics have been chosen, a toile (a calico version of your dress) will be made and fitted to you. This is to ensure and perfect the correct fit, silhouette and proportions of your dress. Following from your toile fitting, I’ll re-draft the pattern for your dress and cut into your chosen dress fabrics. You’ll attend around a further 4 dress fittings, at each appointment seeing your dress perfected and come life. 🤍

The Couture Service I offer is very exclusive, as I only take a limited number of Couture dress commissions per year. Scroll through to read more. ⬆️
