We have gone blue, pink and white for our stay and play sessions tomorrow in support of Baby Loss Awareness Week 🩵🩷🤍 Our thoughts are with those who have lost a baby of any age before, during or after birth. Those who have met their little ones and lost them to illnesses or unexplained causes and those who have had to make heartbreaking decisions to end pregnancies due to medical or personal reasons. Losses so unimaginable and something we wish nobody ever had to go through 🩵🩷🤍

Here’s a bit more information about what we do at The Sensory Hub!

Our classes start from birth, with our Baby Sensory sessions. You can book on as soon as you feel ready to come along with baby, and it can be any time during the term. Our classes are split into age groups, so we can focus on activities that are specially designed to enhance your babies developmental milestones. So for example we have lots of variations of tummy time for our youngest babies, right up to encouraging our mobile babies physical development. We have such a wonderful variety of activities and a year long program, so you never come to the same class twice, unless you want to! Babies can stay at Baby Sensory until 13 months and then they can move on to our Toddler Sense classes.

These classes follow the same developmental objectives, with a more physical focus for our busy toddlers. We have a huge variety of soft play to start our sessions, because studies show that physical activity massively enhances learning. It helps improve concentration, motivation and engagement when it comes to the learning activities portion of our classes. Again, we have a huge variety of multi sensory activities, specifically designed up to school age. We have a 2 year long program for toddler sense, so there’s always something new and exciting to explore.

If you haven’t tried one of our classes, our stay and play sessions are also the perfect opportunity to come along and try our wonderful equipment and ask any questions in person!

We’re not just about the little people here at The Sensory Hub though, we also run a couple of private sessions for older children and adults with additional needs. We are passionate about inclusion and strive to create an environment that can be enjoyed by all.

If you haven’t already seen it, head over to Isle of Mama to hear a bit more about what we do.

MEET THE TEAM

The next member of our team to introduce you all to is Nicola. Nicola is our resident baby whisperer! She runs all of our Baby Sensory classes on a Monday and Tuesday and is very much a favourite with our new parents!

“I joined the team in September 2020, having never heard of Baby Sensory before! Straight away I wished it had been on the island when my two children were babies, who are now 18 and 14!

The classes are such a fantastic environment to meet other new parents and their babies. I absolutely love the classes, but even more so seeing all the babies enjoying their time at Baby Sensory and benefiting from all the activities each week.

Before Baby Sensory, I completed my qualifications as a Nursery Nurse and have worked in nurseries across the island and have also been a private nanny. I've always loved working with babies and children, and now I'm excited to bring my knowledge and experience to Baby Sensory Isle of Man. I can't wait to share your journey with you.”

MEET THE TEAM

Next up we have Gemma. Gemma runs all of our Toddler Sense classes on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, as well as our Sensory only class for our babies on a Thursday. You may also recognise Gemma if you have ever attended one of our fabulous parties!

"I joined The Sensory Hub team at the beginning of 2023 after attending Baby Sensory classes with my daughter. I loved our journey so much that I wanted to be part of the fun! I love how the classes are structured, with different themes every week.

I have a degree in Sociology and following this I also completed my Level 3 in Childcare, as I have such a passion for working with children. Before joining the team, I worked in nurseries for 8 years, starting off asa childcare practitioner and working my way up to nursery manager. I stayed within nurseries up until I went on to maternity leave and fell in love with Baby Sensory!

I am very much looking forward to having lots of fun with our toddlers and meeting new faces along the way, with our fabulous mascot Tod!"

MEET THE TEAM

We thought it would be helpful for new customers (and old ones who just need a reminder) to introduce you all to the team at The Sensory Hub! First up we have Hayley. Hayley has joined the team very recently, taking over from Helen just last week! She currently deals with all of the admin side of things as well as running our weekend stay and play sessions.

"I have always loved working with children and worked part time as a nanny and in a nursery before going to University to study Psychology. I specialised in Developmental Disorders and Educational Psychology in my third year which only furthered my drive to work with children as a career. I then went on to train as a primary school teacher and after a short spell in mainstream schools, I found myself working in Specialist Provision Centres across the island. My passion for working with children with additional needs still remains and, at The Sensory Hub, we will always make sure that everyone is welcomed, celebrated and supported.

In 2023, shortly after the birth of my daughter, I started attending Baby Sensory classes with the lovely Nicola and became hooked. The classes very quickly turned in to so much more than just an activity to take my baby to. They were my reason to get out of the house after yet another sleepless night, a chance to meet other mums and make lifelong friendships, they provided me with a shoulder to cry on and peers to laugh with. We truly would have been lost without Baby Sensory.

We have now moved up to Toddler Sense with the fabulous Gemma and we love these classes just as much. Having the opportunity to play, explore, climb and bounce is so important for my toddler (and saves my sanity!) and she loves joining in with all of the wonderful structured activities too! Despite knowing I have very big boots to fill, I am so excited to be joining the team at The Sensory Hub and I cannot wait to meet you all individually and get to know your little people!"

🧹 Housekeeping post 🧹

With our new term starting tomorrow 🎉 we just wanted to put out a polite reminder of the following points to everyone joining us.

💛 Prams and Car Seats- pram parking is based downstairs at The Roundhouse but is very limited so please leave your pram or car seat in your car if at all possible. The gym next door to The Sensory Hub is now open so it is really important that we keep the corridor outside of The Sensory Hub clear so that their clients are able to access the gym easily and safely.

💙 Shoes- in order to keep our room safe and clean for all of our little people, please remove all outdoor footwear before entering the room and place them in the storage units provided.

💚 Snacks- please do not allow your child to eat whilst in the sensory area. We have lots of babies and toddlers with allergies and therefore this helps to keep our sessions accessible to everyone.

💛Siblings- unfortunately due to insurance limitations, we are not able to allow older siblings in to our Baby Sensory classes.

We can’t wait to see you all back in class

Thank you so much to everyone that came to Say Goodbye to me yesterday, and Say Hello to Hayley🩵It’s been an absolute honour to be part of this fabulous team and I know you will all continue to have the best time with these wonderful ladies🩵I’ll still be around for a little while, but Hayley is now answering all your messages ahead of the term starting. We’re just having a few problems adding her to the Baby Sensory page, so if you have any questions about the term pop them through the Toddler page, any of the Instagram pages or on email. But from me, thank you all for everything and goodbye, Helen xx
