After a year or so of learning a new skill, I am very excited to announce that I am now launching my new business as a DJ.
My goal, when I invested in my digital controller and music was to eventually set up my own DJ’ing business. Playing at birthdays, weddings, social events etc.
I’ve always been passionate about dance music; from Motown, Northern Soul, Disco, Hip Hop, Soul, Funk and my favourite; House ! Anything that literally gives you goosebumps and gets you up on the dancefloor.
I was born in the 70s, grew up in the 80s and raved in the 90s lol I lived my childhood through the New Romantic era, through to Electronica then onto the late 80s I found a love for Inner City and was mesmerised by tunes such as Promised Land-Joe Smooth and that’s where my love of house music came from.
I started my clubbing days back in the early 90s at the Warehouse in Leeds, followed by the Gallery, and the infamous Back 2 Basics, after moving to Essex for several years I came home to Leeds and became a regular at the totally amazing Speedqueen.
House music has always been my passion, it warms my soul and makes me happy. In fact all types of house, from soulful house to tech house and everything in between.
I always wanted to become a DJ but never stepped outside of my “comfort zone” until the pandemic hit us and I started to rethink my life. Approaching 50 and had this dream of doing it but never taking the next step, never just going for it. Until I decided enough was enough!
I always thought I was “too old”, “people would laugh at me” etc. but in the end life is too short to NOT do something you love.
So here I am giving this a go !!!
So if you are looking for someone to play at a private party or a special birthday … let me know. Ease me in gently 😜
I am looking to offer my service at a fair price for my time, to get some practice in and to build my confidence so please get in touch !
PS: I can also play other genres of music, by request, so if you have a specific playlist please let me know. From Motown, 60s through to modern day. Can even cater for the young un’s lol
And for all the experienced DJ friends I know, yes I know I’m not a “vinyl” DJ, nor have I been doing this long enough to call myself “professional” but …. Everyone has a passion and this passion for me is about the MUSIC 🙌 not the system you use, to play the music on, I.e controller / CDJ’s / Vinyl … it’s just about playing fab tunes and getting the dancefloor bouncing x
