🌟August highlights!🌟

We feel as though we blinked and missed this month! We’ve been extremely busy with displays, parties, care homes, play gyms, and many, many more encounters. We’ve had a grand total of 5 days off throughout August, leaving just enough time for recuperation and enjoying the warm weather ☀️

It’s now back to school for a lot of you, but our work doesn’t stop! We’ve already got lots of schools lined up, ready to share our animals in line with new curriculums 🏫

One of our ‘behind the scenes’ creatures:

Orange Bitey Thing 🍊

Yes, that is the official common name for this species! OBTs are notoriously ill-tempered tarantulas and have a venom described as medically significant to humans. Ours is still a young spider (around the size of a 50p) but its colour and markings are swiftly becoming more prominent and eye-catching!
This tarantula will hopefully begin to join our displays next year, but will always stay within a locked enclosure🕷️

Changing ‘Picasso’ to ‘Pico’ for the foreseeable because he’s got no ‘ASS’😮

On a serious note, Picasso has decided to moult all of his tail feathers at once, in what is his most dramatic moult so far! It’s nothing to be concerned about though, his new ones are growing through but for now he’s a little stumpy 🍑

Spindleshanks has moulted! 🥳

Those of you that have met her recently will have seen her tiny leg that had just begun to grow back. Since yesterday’s moult we can hardly tell which leg it was!
In the 2 years that she’s lived with us she’s grown from the size of a 50p to larger than the palm of our hand (and that’s without her legs extended!) 🕷️
