• Autumn Wreath Workshop •
So who would be interested in me hosting a wreath making class to make an autumn door wreath?

Congratulations to Michelle and Chris who yesterday got married. We chose a late summer mix with lots of texture and warmth.

Yellow Sunflowers complimented the last of the summer fragrant Stocks and Astilbe and the beginning of the autumn Miscanthus, Poppyheads and Snowberries in a mix of white and maroon.

We kept the buttonholes and corsages simple with a single Polar Sensation white rose, Craspedia, Snowberries and Eucalyptus (three varieties!)

I love that we discuss all the variations on colours and flower choices and allow the wedding couple to make their own selection of those flowers which they adore.
I use my knowledge as a florist and horticulturist to guide with various choices and varieties to perfectly bring their dream into reality.

I have availability for weddings in 2025, with only a few consultation appointments available for September and October. Then it’s one of my favourite, but hectic, seasons of winter wreath making so consultation appointments are then set for the new year.

• IVY & EVE FLOWER CLUB & FRIDAY FLOWERS •
Wow what a busy couple of days! I generally have my fresh flowers delivered to my workshop on a Thursday(or a Wednesday)

This week all my flowers have been sold and collected or delivered today! So they really are super fresh!

Who loves this colour combination, an elegant summer mix of yellows and whites including beautiful pollen free double petal Lilies, Snowberries, Snapdragons, Miscanthus and Snapdragons!

Thank you all very much, to my wonderful flower club members and regular customers who have treated themselves or their friends. It’s been a summery high to end our school summer holidays on.

WINTER IS COMING
As we enjoy the bank holiday weekend, the final week of the school summer holidays and embracing the seasonal change to autumn, I am already making my preparations for Winter Wreaths!

I’ve been working on my three unique designs for 2024, my 10th year in business, and I cannot wait to show you! This particular wreath has been of great inspiration for me.

I’ve listened to feedback from my lovely customers and I’m pleased to have a couple of new options available, so there’s a wreath to suit everyone!

So watch this space! And remember my Winter Wreaths are so super long lasting they’re WINTER wreaths, not just Christmas ones!

It’s been a wonderful break away with my two teenagers and Pebbles the cavapoo. We stayed in a lovely cabin in the middle of the countryside, and enjoyed some breathtaking walks including completing Old Man of Conniston, with walking from a good mile or so outside of Conniston as I didn’t fancy the drive to the top car park on a narrow bumpy lane!

Next week is a continuation of my annual leave with these two, as my daughter will be anticipating her GCSE results and enrolling into college.

IVY & EVE ARE BESPOKE WEDDING FLOWER SPECIALISTS. Sometimes faux flowers just match your couple’s needs better.

Whether it be a wedding held further afield, or wanting to feel super organised and have your flowers ready before the date, there’s lots of reasons why you might wish to look at faux flowers instead of fresh ones.

My favourite is that you simply want to keep them forever. My mum still has her bouquet from when she married my dad over 40years ago!

What a July it’s been! Full of Sunflowers and bright colours! Absolutely loved creating the Ivy & Eve Flower Club bouquets and all the amazing Thank You teacher bouquets and jar arrangements.

Personal favourite blooms over this past week or so were the Lugt Lisianthus Alissa mix Lisianthus and the lavender purple MoonLite & MoonAqua Carnations.

Next Flowers are available for order Friday teatime (2nd Aug) to Sunday!

Containing pink Marlon Oriental Lilies (my personal favourite variety) Lilac Scabiosa and Drumstick Alliums and a mix of foliages (including Eucalyptus from Irish Green Guys)

Top Tips for a full vase life
• Pinch out the orange stamens as soon as possible, with your fingers to avoid staining.
• Regularly change the water and recurring the stems, this prevents the bacterial growth and re-opens its ability to drink.
• Most importantly please keep away from the sunshine/heat sources and placed in the coolest room to enjoy for longer.

The timeless beauty of Roses

I wonder if this year my elegant white roses will bloom in time for this July and August’s Weddings! I love to be able to include them, if the timing and colour palette is right.

This garden rose variety is named ‘Summer Memories’ and it holds lots of sentimental meaning for me.

It’s super blousy and full of delicate white petals, with a gentle feminine scent.

WHY HAVE I BEEN SO QUIET 🤐 It started off as a quiet week flower-wise, so I made the decision not to order in my usual big flower delivery. Though as usual I have had to turn away every flower order enquiry away, recommending my local florists and passing business their way.

It also meant I could focus on completing my NCFE Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
It’s been the most personally challenging course at Shipley College, having been studying with them most years from 2009! I am always pushing myself to grow.

This gives me additional confidence in teaching my workshop classes and having a professional approach to understanding how to deliver a fun and informative experience to meet learning objectives.

And who knows, it may just be the start of a career in teaching adults/those in further education. For now I’m happy to re-focus on all my wonderful weddings over Summer and Autumn as well as plan dates for these workshop sessions I often keep talking about in my live videos!

Someone asked me recently, “What is your favourite flower?” And my reply was “I cannot choose!!”
For me they have to have architectural value and a long vase life so I can really enjoy them.
I love simplicity in single colours or attention on just one type of flower, or even the contemporary look of Eucalyptus stems.

Since redecorating my lounge in February 2022, it’s been the proud backdrop for all my leftover flowers. It’s a naturally cool and shady room and best of all I appreciate my flowers every time I sit down to relax.

Most of these varieties are my personal favourite flowers, from Cream Freesias and pink Peonies, to spring Ranunculus and Roses, and Oriental Pink Lilies and Cymbidium Orchids! My favourite colours being white, pink, lilac or yellow! Many have lasted well over 2 weeks, if not longer!

Last week’s Friday Flowers and the Ivy & Eve Flower Club Subscription bouquets were ‘Peaches n Lime’.

Absolutely loved the Miss Piggy Roses, those long lasting Lisianthus, Hypericum berries and Eryngium thistles.
Got in the very luxurious Eremurus foxtail lilies for a bit of ‘oomph’, as well as one of my favourites; a variety of Carnation call ‘Caramel’ the colour is like a soft nude-blush-apricot-pink.

I hope everyone loves their bouquets, regularly change the water and please keep away from direct sunshine! I’ve kept some foxtail lilies for me as I personally love simplicity and impactful single-variety arrangements.
