What an amazing night we had at the 2025 Essex Wedding Awards 💕

This was our first year entering the awards and we were lucky enough to be finalists. We chose to enter into the Historic Wedding Venue of the Year category, where we were up against other strong venues.

We weren't winners, but nonetheless absolutely ecstatic to be there and to be shortlisted alongside some great businesses.

Our Weddings have seen lots of growth in recent years, and we cannot wait to continue to expand our service more and more.

Meet Mr Polson and his father, Lenny Polson (picture).

Lenny began work for the Urban District Council of Braintree and Bocking in the year 1940, where he was a labourer. In the late 40s / early 50s, he joined the team at Braintree Town Hall as caretaker.

As caretaker, it was Lenny's responsibility to look after the building 7 days a week, even including Christmas day.

Still on display in the Town Hall, there is Lenny Polson's picture, along with a document signed by all of his colleagues who cherished him upon his retirement in 1965.

Today, we are lucky enough to meet his son, who is able to share is story, and whom is able to teach us the finer details about the Town Halls history.

"We really did have a lovely wedding there in Sept 2023 - the venue is beautiful, the booking details were very easy to arrange, and the rooms were fantastic, as well as the bridal party preparation room and even the little room where we met with the registrar first etc. the outside space as well really worked well for photographs - it was surprising how successful that was as at first glance you don’t necessarily appreciate that! It was really good value compared to other locations. We were absolutely delighted with the whole experience. It was also especially relevant for us as we met 100m from the venue exactly 7 years earlier!"
