When we photograph property the more dramatic and stylish it is the more dramatic and stylish the resultant pictures will be.
When the property is a new build social housing development on Raasay the buildings will be nice but a bit blank. Not much to photograph. Part of me is disappointed, the flamboyant artistic part.
Not so fast...
I am documenting the start of something wonderful. New, affordable housing on an island crying out for just that. A big step forward in creating a new generation of islanders. Something that is vitally important to the continued survival of a fragile community.
A lesson in looking at the bigger picture. It's all well and good photographing all the lovely stuff but sometimes you are meant to tell a story.
