‘Interesting meeting yesterday on the wildfire policies and lessons to be learned. Implementing fire action plans, firebreaks, managing risk factors including the wider public and education and mobilisation of resources and communication were high on the topic list.
Need to be conscious that the army of skilled ‘volunteers’ who are quick to mobilise with the necessary experience and equipment are our own communities gamekeepers and farmers.’ - Loch Ness Rural Communities
The event held by Kate Forbes was to learn lessons from recent wildfires and discuss a strategy to future wildfires.
