Because folk is a broad term, people are complicated and we want to bring Brecon the best in music and culture every month….& more! That means acts booked in other local venues under the Folk & More banner, small festival events as well as tying in with other cultural groups such as the amazingly well attended Mari Llwyd event, jointly hosted with Plan Brecon at the start of 2017. INTRODUCING : Hermione Wild.
We are thrilled to have Hermione joining us as support for the Steve Ferbrache gig on February 2nd at the Muse. (ticket link below) A lot of you know Steve, but who is Hermione? Well, she is a talented, hard working multi instrumentalist, (and illustrator) who can normally be found sharing her music in Swansea and the surrounding area. Hermione has started branching out a bit, and we feel lucky that she has agreed to join us for the night. She is a versatile vocalist. Folky and authentic, with a little bluesy edge showing itself in all the right places. Trust me when I tell you that if there is any justice this lady will be an “overnight success” after years of hard work! Catch her while you can!

It’s probably fair to say that Steve Ferbrache has paid his dues. As the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and storyteller for the Achievers, he has some miles under him on the musical journey. But sometimes there are things you need to say outside of a band. For Steve that time is now. The songs are written, the van fuelled and the sat nav set for Brecon. So come and listen to the stories, the beautiful fingerpicked melodies and dry vocals. Sincerity in music is in short supply. So don’t miss this one.

Thank you to everyone who attended our New Years Day bash yesterday. It was a great way to start 2025. Maris, music, and all finished at a civilised time for those still in recovery from the night before. We didn’t capture everyone in the photos, but whether you are captured here or not your participation and support was wonderful.

Brecon Folk & More Club, The Muse and
Brecon Mari Lwyd are holding a joint event at the Muse from 13.00 on January 1st 2025. This is an inclusive event, children, musicians and other Maris are all welcome and encouraged to join us. It was a great day last year, so lets all get together again!!!!

New Years Day? It can feel like time stops. The day drags, the clock slows. It’s not the start of something, nor the end of something, it feels like a no mans land. So what about starting 2025 with some fun, food and folklore?
This year we are stopping at The Muse for the day. We will have Music, Mari Dwr and a few poems. Food from the wonderful Cat Soup Kitchen, beer and cider from local breweries and a great way to spend your day.
All are welcome to join us, contribute, to just sit and enjoy. Hopefully will end up with a big jam and singalong.

The next Muse Mumblings event is coming to us on October 18th 07.00 pm start -09.00pm at The Muse Brecon.
This months speakers will be covering mental health in older people, and the Mens Mental Health movement. Again all with a personal viewpoint.
Our “half time” light relief this month is courtesy of The Brecon Shanty Crew bring us a short fun set of their songs.
Muse Mumblings is Wellbeing Event that challenges stigma by bringing you people from your community openly sharing their life stories. This event will bring you personal viewpoints of mental illness. A presentation on what Anxiety is and how to challenge it. An update on underutilised/unknown support services and how to access them. Think a local Ted Talk/Moth radio hour. It is all about learning, (for everyone)sharing experiences and building community. Please take a minute to share this event for us. See you all there
