Planning ahead today and harvesting seed pods for drying. We grow our poppies just for the seed heads (and to admire in the garden). While the flowers are super pretty they don't have much of a vase life. The seed heads however are invaluable. We've started harvesting them for drying ready to use in arrangements throughout the rest of the year and for our Autumn and Christmas wreaths.

There's lots of weeding going on right now, getting the beds prepared to plant out the seedlings which are quickly outgrowing the space we have in the greenhouse. I've been really poorly this week but finally felt well enough for an hour working in the garden this morning, fresh air and dirty hands is the best medicine. 🤍This bed already has some of the Dahlia's we left in over winter sprouting, a load of self seeded poppies which I keep to harvest the seed pods, Cornflowers and Peonies ready to bloom and a small selection of our Roses... another few weeks and it will be full of all those little seedlings and come summertime this bed will a riot of colour and beautiful blooms! 💐#britishflowers #flowerfarmer #britishflowerweek #grownnotflown #cutflowergarden #gardening #shropshirelife #countrylife
