Boxing icon Joe Calzaghe heading to the Bridlington Spa this April

One of Britain’s best know boxers is heading to Bridlington for an exclusive evening at the Spa.

Organised by locally based company New Wave Promotions, boxing icon Joe Calzaghe is heading Bridlington on Saturday April 13th for one night only.

Joe Calzaghe is not only a legend within the boxing world, but he is also one of Britain’s sporting greats. After a glittering career of 46 undefeated fights, he is the longest reigning champion in professional boxing history…Joe’s story is not one to be missed.

Joe will take us down memory lane with the highs and lows of his career stories about the life in boxing, his unique bond with his father and trainer and of course his famous battles with Chris Eubank, Jeff Lacy, Mikkel Kessler, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr.

Said Organisers Shane Green and Mark Harper: “The event itself has been very well responded to and we must make a special thanks to all businesses and people who have and continue to do their bits to ensure this is a success not only for us but for the town as well

“We really are trying to potentially create something regular by bringing fantastic talent to our town.

“Even if boxing isn’t your thing, you may know someone who does like boxing or even just want to support local people doing things for the town please forward this email to anyone you may think of. We at New wave (Mark and Shane) would personally like to thank everyone in attendance, who had bought tickets and who also help pushed and promote our event.

Such as life, things don’t always go according to plan which we had the unfortunate experience on our first event.

Those who didn’t know unfortunately was unable to attend our event which was confirmed by Rickys Manager at our event due to illness and we wish Ricky a speedy recovery. We will look at a possibly bringing Ricky to Bridlington at a later date.

We had worked tirelessly to look at replacing Ricky with other fantastic boxing legends which we now are in talks with to arrange our next event.

Upon receiving the news we had 2 options. One was to cancel or to run with our event to ensure everyone could have a good night as much as possible.

This is our first event which has had months of hard work behind the scenes to ensure we could deliver the best possible evening under the circumstances. Which we decided to go ahead with the show and at this time we must thank Josh Warrington for stepping in to speak about such a fantastic life and career. We are hearing such great response about Josh and hope you enjoyed this.

Then we was greeted by none other than the legend that was Frank Bruno MBE

We cannot thank you enough for the unbelievable support and understanding that we was faced with things out of our control and we hope you can see the effort we have gone to keep this event going as it was our priority not to let anyone down. We appreciate every single person who has gone out their way to support us as a new events company and stuck by us with this event. This will never be forgotten and if you missed the announcement anyone in attendance will be entitled to 50% off our next event. It’s our way to say thanks for sticking with us on this event.

Was great to meet up with Frank Bruno MBE last week seeing him at another venue fantastic reception for such a legend.

Thursday night can’t come quick enough and we are looking forward to seeing with our special guests Josh Warrington and Johnny Nelson
