This week we’ve been very busy getting everything ready and we’re nearly there. It’s genuinely starting to feel a lot like Christmas. The only thing missing... is you!

The snow machines are ready to go, but there’s every chance we might get to see the real thing. The weather forecast is looking perfect for a fairytale festive weekend, crisp with plenty of sunshine.
When you’re here, make sure to enter our Christmas competition. You’ll be in with a chance to win a £100 Symondsbury Estate voucher! All you have to do is take a photo in our Sleigh (which you’ll find on the green outside our Home & Garden store), share it on Instagram and/or Facebook, and tag us.

Symondsbury Estate is a countryside destination spot in the heart of West Dorset, just a stones throw from the Jurassic Coast. The Estate consists mainly of farmland, ancient woodland and residential, holiday and commercial property.
We currently have 8 holiday cottages - beautifully renovated and decorated, making the perfect countryside holiday spot.
At Manor Yard, the hub of Symondsbury – shops, a café and wedding and events venue, Tithe Barn, reside under Colmers Hill that overlooks the Estate.
Manor Yard was once used for carthorses that were bought down from grazing areas on Colmers Hill. Barns in Manor Yard had multiple uses. Symondsbury Kitchen was once used to milk cows and store the milk churns.
Tithe Barn was built around 1440. It was originally an abbey barn used for storing parishes produce, until it became a tithe barn. During WWII, it was used for the home guard as a rifle range and armoury. We still have a Willys Jeep on site that was abandoned by the military!
Colmers Hill’s significance extends back to the 1600’s where the hill took its name from ‘Colmers Tenement’ by the daughter of Rev. John Colmer. The Colfox family has since owned Colmers Hill as part of Symondsbury Estate for over 100 years. The Estate has created a permissive path up the hill so the walking trail can be shared with visitors.
The walk up Colmers Hill is extremely popular to visitors from far and wide. It is a pleasant short walk with a steep but steady slope taking you to the summit – offering scenic views and perfect photo opportunities of West Dorset, East Devon, out to the sea and beyond.
Our Estate trail runs through the Estate – boasting panoramic views across Symondsbury and beyond. The trail is open to all and can be extended with a walk up Colmers Hill.
