What a storm we had yesterday! There was water everywhere. 40ml in half an hour and the ground just couldn’t cope. Finally it stopped raining long enough for us to get onto the field with some bigger machinery. Using the very high tech equipment, string and bamboo sticks, we were able to make some new, very straight beds in the flower field. Hello Spring! The tulips are really starting to get going now. The pink and peach narcissus are finally blooming too. I don’t have a huge amount of tulips this year as I am trialling different varieties. They are a big investment as they are treated as an annual. When they are harvested they are pulled up along with the bulb. So far so good, I’m very happy with Exotic Emperor, it has fantastic stem length, an unusual flower shape and is a really easy to use colour.
