I am now a proud Elevate mentee!

I was delighted to attend the Elevate kick-off event at Protein Studios in Shoreditch last Thursday. The energy in the room was electric! THIS is what community looks like!

Elevate is a pioneering, free mentoring programme designed to inspire, inform, and empower people within the events industry.

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Elevate – its biggest year yet, with a record-breaking cohort of 600 participants. Since its launch, Elevate has empowered over 2,000 individuals and continues to grow every year.

Together, we’re changing lives, careers and our industry for the better.

Had such a great time popping my Elevate Mentoring cherry in Soho last Tuesday at The Crown & Two Chairman, meeting Melissa Noakes, Max Fellows and Peter Kerwood and watching a great talk from Matt Bolton-Alarcón on 'Creative Thinking'.

Lots of food for thought and it was great connecting with so many likeminded and passionate mentors and mentees in the events industry!

Looking forward to the next one in November! 🥳

DJ LESSON REVIEW FROM DJ STEVIE BEE ➡️

"After meeting Nina at a su***de prevention charity event and finding out that she taught DJs, I knew I had to connect with her.

Crazily enough I bought myself a controller and speakers first, as the eBay price was right. Eventually our calendars aligned in October 2023 and I booked a 2 hour lesson with Nina.

The 2 hour lesson was very relaxed and Nina listened and answered all the questions I had. She guided me through the controller and taught me how to transition songs. This gave me a basic understanding and it left me wanting to learn more. Nina's advice was for me to watch other DJs and to practice whenever I could.

During the "watching DJs", I connected with another DJ who helped me tweak things a little by giving me the odd top tip.

I did my first live gig in November 2023 for a cancer charity and lived off the adrenaline and euphoria for well over a week.

This then led me on to doing a clandestine B2B with a DJ on .official radio on an irregular basis, which led to me getting my own 2 hour radio show once a week on .frequencies.radio which went live in March 2024.

Whist I have not done too many live gigs, an Apres Ski set in Italy, Escape Bar Worthing, Block Bar Worthing and Brighton and a guest show on 1BTN through Sessions, I am still building my name and connections.

I have just received the go ahead to do 4 gigs at the Big Beach Cafe, Hove Lagoon, which is jointly owned by Fat Boy Slim, over the summer of 2024.

This DJ journey is just starting for me and I know I still have a lot to learn, but it is with a heart felt thank you and a huge hug to Nina for helping me start this beautiful journey in this chapter of my life. I know my style of learning is better with having 1-2-1 lessons and Nina is brilliant in her style, aptitude and wealth of knowledge. Thank you so much for getting me started."

This marvellous young dude has had several 1-1 DJ lessons with me and I'm excited that we now have more booked in this year! He is really passionate about DJing and he picked up beat matching really quickly.

We have had lots of fun exploring and experimenting with different sound fx and seeing what all the nobs and buttons do. He likes the harder music genres and is a big EDM fan, so for the subsequent lessons, I made a collection of some of his favourite tunes so he could mix the sound he loves most.

With my background on Primary School Teaching, I really enjoy working with children of all ages and love to see them exploring and enjoying music and sound. Please feel free to get in touch if you have a child in your life that would love some 1-1 DJ lessons!
