Such an amazing achievement!
Thank you Southwick you did us proud.
Back in July someone came up with the idea of doing a fundraiser for the homeless at Christmas. Rather than just do a raffle we thought we needed to do something that could incorporate all the different strings of what has made The Beer Engine in it's short 18 month existence famous for. So that's real ale, craft beer, real German beers, music and of course a friendly atmosphere. So we figured a music event, with a cask tap takeover by Vocation and a Southwick celebration of music by Southwick musicians and of course incorporate Krombacher Beers.
So we had our doubts but with not many days going by without the homeless issues popping up we figured let's see what people think. So a secret meeting of Southwick's finest took place and the end result was "A bed for Christmas"
The race was now on to put together a event which meets "Beer Engine standards"
We set out to raise around £400 which we thought was achievable.
We actually raised £1487.92p Amazing!
So all of us at The Southwick Beer Engine would like to thank in no particular order. Karl Bashford, Attila The Stock broker, Danny Fox, Lee Pryor, Jules Faux and Pemberton Smith for their time and efforts not only playing at the event for free but also for helping the event get off the ground running.
To all the people/ Businesses that donated prizes to our raffle large or small.
We would also like to thank the other Southwick businesses that helped to promote and support the event.
The day was a brilliant success the only concern now is after setting such a high benchmark do we do it again next year, and if so how do we beat that?
Thank you everyone who supported the event be it in prizes, time or anything else.
A few people made a small idea blossom
Yasmin (Merlot Events)
Tracy Harrison
Krombacher (only the Beer Engine can get the Germans to support Sussex Homeless people!)
Karl Bashford (Mr MC himself)
Thank you to each and everyone of you who came along on the day and supported the event, fair to say we did better than we expected.
