Time for another of this summer’s beautiful brides, author and her husband Max! This lovely wedding at the atmospheric was a long time coming after two pandemic forced postponements, but it was definitely worth the wait. Check out feature today for more beautiful images…

・・・
A day I will never forget. After two postponements, and I finally tied the knot this weekend! And on my 40th birthday!

It was extra extra special as we were the first people to be married at , the country home of the Bloomsbury Group. Every inch of the farm is steeped in art, queerness and poetry. I like to think Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant gave us their blessing. HUGE thanks to Charleston for allowing to shoot us inside the house.

More thanks to our family and friends for joining us and making the strangest circumstances feel normal.

Now the dress! It’s a bespoke design by the sublime of Brighton loosely inspired by Jennifer Connelly’s Labyrinth ball gown! Obviously!

And now the rest of the beauty squad: hair by , colour by , makeup by , flowers by .

And finally, thank you to Max. I love you. HUSP AND WYF.

There are, in all our years, the occasions by which we measure the passing of time; birthdays, anniversaries, local events and celebrations. These occasions help highlight the progress we make as we wind our way through the years, weaving cherished moments into our minds and creating memories that stay with us through the decades that follow. Our lives are made richer because of these moments.
⠀⠀
But this year has been so different.
⠀⠀
The wedding season has now ended, marking the passing of millions of missed wedding day moments. The campaign team, which Love My Dress is very much a part of, wanted to acknowledge this through the power of film.
⠀⠀
Our 'A Million Moments' campaign film highlights what makes weddings the extraordinary, life-affirming events that they are; precious, milestone moments that can never be replicated.
⠀⠀
We know only too well what the loss of these moments can mean; lives and livelihoods have been impacted, futures have been put on hold and none of us have been able to turn to the next page in the story of our lives.
⠀⠀
We hope this film shows why weddings are so important in our lives; what they represent, what they say about us as humans and why we need them now more than ever, to look forward to. In the light of latest national lockdown news, this film feels even more important and more poignant than we could ever imagined it would.
⠀⠀
Couples, suppliers and venues; if you’ve felt lost, forgotten or heartbroken for all of the stolen moments this year, we hope this film speaks to you. We hope that it uplifts and reminds you of the joy of weddings. We set to work on this campaign, to remind you that when all feels dark and hopeless, there is light, always. That the moments you are longing for, will be 100% worth the wait.
⠀⠀
Words can't express our gratitude to the 26 exceptional British wedding film makers who made this film possible (please see pinned comments for film credits). Special thanks to Ben at for being such an absolute joy to work with in producing this film.
⠀⠀
2020 is the year when a million missed moments, won’t ever be forgotten.

RE-OPENING;

The Shropshire Lad rose at the entrance to the studio showroom is looking magnificent at the moment, gearing up to welcome people back when we tentatively and responsibly move towards a limited re-opening of the showroom after the 15th June.
After careful consideration I’m pleased to say that initially I will be able to offer appointments to new clients who would like to come in to view the studio samples and for a chat about their ideas. We can arrange this in a way that fully complies with guidance on social distancing and hygiene, but still provides an informative and pleasurable experience for our visitors.
Over the weekend I will be setting out a written plan for how this will work, which will be available to view on the website, or by email on request. I will also be sketching out my thoughts on how fittings might work in the safest way as we move beyond June. Given that there is a certain amount of personal contact required to carry out a dress fitting, I don’t anticipate being able to re-start that part of the process until rather later, probably July at the earliest as I imagine this type of service will be bracketed with hairdressers, beauticians etc. Even though we don’t have a date on that yet you can be sure I am giving a lot of thought to how we will manage when we do 😊

Obviously we are in uncharted territory here, so dates and processes may need to be tweaked as we go along, but I am really looking forward to being able to welcome you all back!
Meanwhile, although I have been a little quiet on here recently, rest assured that lots has been going on behind the scenes, with work continuing on existing overseas orders, and much juggling of the studio schedule to accommodate current clients’ postponed celebrations ( which I’m sure will be doubly special, given how much has been gone through to get there). There has even been time to work on a few new designs, which I am very excited to show you more of very soon 😉❤️🌿 @ Joanne Fleming Design

This beauty still in the online sample sale (link in profile).
If long sleeves aren’t your thing then this would also look so pretty with tiny puff sleeves, giving it quite a Regency look. A pretty straightforward alteration to perform... might even be persuaded to do it myself! 😉

**UPDATE; Thanks to Mary from Las Vegas who just bought this....all proceeds now donated to WIRES for their work with wildlife in distress in the fires in New South Wales**
This really wonderful original Edwardian silk b***d bodice has just been added to the online shop (link in profile). In superb wearable condition, especially when you consider it is around 120 years old! Full details in the listing.... and all proceeds (minus PayPal fees and shipping) will be going straight to charity. In this case to to help care for the wildlife injured in the terrible bushfires raging in Australia. Honestly, it’s so heartbreaking to see the devastating impact this result of the GLOBAL CLIMATE EMERGENCY is having on the people and animals struggling to survive there (I have already donated to the amazing btw, definitely not forgetting about the people! )

*Belle Époque Christmas*
The be-jewelled and tasseled fairytale babouches of lend themselves so perfectly to festive displays....here they are tucked in amongst the garlands and vintage art nouveau lamps at the studio showroom. And there’s also a couple of .amy’s hand painted folk art ceramic baubles adding to the scene, newly arrived and temporarily resting here before being taken home and added to my little collection when the tree goes up 🎄

Slightly cross-eyed this evening from attaching all the tiny monkey’s fist cord buttons to this gown today, and then making thread loops. The antique silk Chantilly lace is so delicate that I decided my usual silk rouleau loops would be too heavy... @ Joanne Fleming Design

Bespoke gorgeousness with an emphasis on vintage romanticism

So, you're looking for a fabulous dress? Something that is going to make you feel beautiful, glamorous, romantic, sensuous.....whatever that feeling is that you get when you slip some gorgeous confection of silk or lace over your head, turn to look at yourself in the mirror, and think......this is it, this is how I am meant to look on that day......

The good news is that there is nothing we like better at JFD than helping to bring that moment about.....

Bespoke gorgeousness and made-to-order loveliness is what's on offer from this bijou atelier, located within flirting distance of Brighton's Royal Pavilion.

A veritable jewel box of sensuous slithers of silk satin, clouds of gossamer chiffon, intricate French lace, and twinkling beaded tulle ....all finished with an exacting eye for detail and presented in the welcoming Belle Epoque ambience of Joanne’s showroom (with its little tucked away courtyard garden) .
