Our Story

Founded by Hester Lear in 2011, Wedding in a Teacup is an online boutique full of eco-friendly and personalised goodies perfect for your meaningful days. With our enchanting designs and handmade creations, we’ll help you style your wedding, baby shower or hen party your way.

In fact, the reason Wedding in a Teacup exists is because after my shock engagement in early 2011 (as the daughter of a feminist I wasn’t one of those girls who ever dreamt of the elaborate proposal or big white wedding - my stunned response to the man-I-love’s proposal is far too rude to repeat here..!) I quickly found that my tastes were not represented in the mainstream wedding industry. Sparkles, throwaway favours and organza chair bows were just not me…

Inspired by the variety of creative real weddings I saw on wedding blogs, I realised other couples wanted something different from the big white ‘do and all that entailed, too. So as a newlywed, I launched Wedding in a Teacup in December 2011: a one-stop-shop for unique wedding stationery, favours and decor, featuring wonderful items that last, are fairtrade, made from recycled material, or created right here in the UK.
