Oh, how welcome the sunshine was this afternoon, and boy did we strike quadruple lucky - a super low neap tide (not often you find the end of the pier standing almost purely on sand), a gorgeous sunset, a pretty full moon, and a noisy starling murmuration too.

All in all, we were so pleased we went along to enjoy Mother Nature at her best!

I've never had a tree up so early, but this beauty has been in situ for twelve days already.

But then again, with all the dull, miserable weather we keep having, I'm so pleased we decided to go early! Cheers you up no end with its lights glimmering and baubles shimmering.

And I haven't gone traditional for many a year either, but I'm really pleased with the reds and the greens. A year for breaking traditions, obviously!!

I was so happy to receive this photo via Elaine Chapman.

She recently ran a workshop for the 1st Hailsham Brownies and they created hand-tied bouquets in the manner I taught her and her club (Hailsham Flower Club) back in May 2023!

They used faux flowers and embellishments to ensure the bouquets will last over the festive period, and Elaine tells me that the girls really enjoyed making them. Yay!

Very well done girls!

Turkey season officially started today with the Brighton and Hove Flower Club's Christmas lunch.

Impressive food and service from several hardworking staff at this eatery. Lovely festive decor too added to the ambience for 28 flower club members who got into the festive spirit.

Ho, ho, ho πŸŽ„πŸŽ…β„οΈ

I love teaching and sharing my floral passion far and wide, and the two adult education courses which finished this week gave me so, so much pleasure.

I had a total of 22 learners and each week they produced awesome work and were so enthusiastic and keen on learning.

Receiving feedback is always the icing on the cake and if you are thinking of perhaps joining us in March 2025 then here are just a few comments to whet your floral appetite:

Thank you for a lovely five weeks. I really enjoyed getting creative and your knowledge and advice has been inspirational. I have booked myself in for the course that starts in March!
SS

Thank you so much. I have loved every week, loved your teaching and meeting new friends. Back in March for more…
RS

Thanks for your help and support over the last five weeks. I really loved the course and enjoyed every lesson. It passed so quickly! I may see you in March…
KH

I have so enjoyed the course.
LN

Thanks for another great course, I cannot wait for the next one.
SC

It’s been great and I am looking forward to coming back in the spring.
DM

In fact, the enthusiasm has been so incredible that the scheduled course which starts on Thursday 06 March 2025 is now already fully booked. Happily, the College has agreed to put on one more so why not come along for that... The 'new' date is Tuesday 04 March 2025, again for five weeks.

Please contact the College on 01273 422632 to book your place but do hurry!

See you soon for lots of floral fun.

Wowser! What an amazing afternoon with my Floranina Belles today.

Wreath making galore, and I'm beyond proud of them all. They absolutely, absolutely smashed it...

Very well done, Anna, Jan H, Glynis, Linda, Myra (in action), Joy, Nicola, Holly (amazing nails!), Claire, and Jan C - your wreaths are truly awesome. What amazing Sussex doors are coming up once Storm Darragh disappears and leaves us all alone...

And I'm so relieved they liked my pomegranate cakes, too... πŸ˜‹ worth all the effort making them yesterday!!

Thank you, ladies, for all your support and love - it means the world to me. Merry, Merry Christmas, and I cannot wait to continue to inspire you florally in 2025.

And a huge thank you to my lovely John whose support and love means the world, and boy is he good at carrying and loading and unloading!!

Lots of luv πŸ˜˜πŸŽ…β„οΈ

Final lesson tonight for my Wednesday group and boy didn't they do stupendously well with their festive wreaths.

It's been such a joy teaching them various design styles during these past five weeks and to be able to watch them grow and develop.

Very well done Becky (from Tuesday's class!), Karen, Aki, Jan C, Linda, Moira, Sam, Atlanta and Claire - your front doors are going to look amazing!

We were sorry that Jan H and Nicola missed this last session, but hopefully, they'll make their own wreaths at home soon...

And pleasingly, many of the above learners will return when the spring course commences again in March 2025 to continue their floral journey.

Oh, how I love teaching!

Final lesson for my Tuesday group tonight, and they absolutely smashed it with their festive wreaths.

It has been such a privilege and joy to have spent the past five weeks with these lovely ladies. All were totally new to floral design, but I'm pretty sure they've all been bitten by the floral bug! Yay!

In fact, many have already booked to continue with the spring course, which starts on Thursday, 06 March 2025, so that is so, so pleasing.

Well done, Maureen, Glynis, Susan, Marian, Jeanette, Denice, Jan, and Debbie on your fabulous wreaths - and Jill too who prefers to not be in pics - I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of each and every one of you.

Merry Christmas, and hopefully, our floral paths will cross soon again... πŸŽ„πŸŽ…β„οΈ

The wreath that caused all the grief!

Deciding not to wire sweets onto this festive treat was perhaps not such a good idea... hot glue is lethal as I learnt to my peril... 😫

Still, I love this colourful wreath, and hopefully the clients (who have small children in their family) will like my creation for their front door... and maybe the sweets will stay intact until Christmas!!

Burn's update...

It's not very nice as you can see and after a painful night and the worry about things going septic...a visit to the surgery was required this morning.

Thankfully, nurse Julie has now drained the blister, and hopefully, the antibiotics prescribed will kick in soon, too...

Wreath making may commence in the not too distant future... πŸŽ„πŸ™

Our Story

I have been a β€œworking” floral designer since 2008 (first as Ninushka Designs and now as Floranina) and take great pleasure in liaising closely with my clients to make their floral dreams come true. I regularly teach floral design in and around Sussex too and get so much pleasure from that. And since January 2018 I became a NAFAS Area Demonstrator and now have the pleasure of visiting flower clubs near and far with my floral road show. I am also the Editor of the BFA Magazine (British Florist Association) and the UK Editorial Adviser of the Belgian Fleur Creatif Magazine (previously I was Editor Flora International Magazine for four years) which all means that I do keep my finger on the pulse in the floral world.
