Wedding planning can be rather overwhelming (understatement of the day) which is understandable given the size, pressure and very nature of what it represents, but it doesn't need to be that way.

The good news is by breaking the big day into manageable, bite-sized slices, it will allow you to make wedding preparations at a pace that really suits you.

The lovely Sarah & Alexis ❤️

This couple were a joy to work with! Their laid back approach to wedding planning made for a fun, relaxed wedding day that was enjoyed by everyone who attended!

In the lead up to their wedding I liaised with all of their suppliers to ensure everyone knew their roles and expectations for the day, I created a thorough timeline to make sure everything went to plan and I was lucky enough to be a friendly face & support to them both in the build up to the big day by taking the reins and allowing them to relax & enjoy the experience.

Looking into this for my couples I’ve come across so many different answers and here are some examples of what I’ve discovered..

Semi naked cakes

What do I think? Have whatever cake you want and stay true to yourselves! Extras like wedding cakes are important ways of incorporating your personality into your day be that with the decoration of the cake or the flavours inside.

Rachel & Wesley were such a lovely couple!

From our first meeting many months ago I knew their wedding day was going to be beautiful & I was honoured to be the wedding planner they chose to make this happen.

✨Venue Coordinator vs Wedding Planner ✨

This is a question that I often get asked, what is the different between a wedding planner and a venue coordinator?

Venue coordinators are the amazing team of people that work at the venue who will help with the set up of the venue and the smooth running of your day.

Wedding planners help plan the day itself from start to finish. We source suppliers and help with the design and decor. We oversee logistics, timings, supplier schedules and are there to make sure everything runs as it should. If you need advice on your table plan, if you need to arrange transport for guests or if there are spelling issues on your stationery we handle all of that plus any on the day problems with the help of the lovely venue coordinators.

Sometimes weddings planners step in towards the end of your planning journey to tie up any loose ends and finalise plans with you. Then we arrive on the day to take all stress and responsibilities away from you with the help of the venue team if there is one.

We work with venue coordinators as one large team to ensure you have the very best day possible, you absolutely get the best of both.

✨ It's the most important thing and there is not enough of it ✨

TIME.

All the months spent planning your wedding DAY, for it to be over in an instant. That's why the key things below are SO important on your wedding day.

Taking a few moments together every now and again to catch up, soak it all in and just look at the magic you have created and the faces of those you love.

A good photographer to capture the tears and the laughter, the moments you will miss creating moments with other people, the reminiscing of good times and the hope for the future, all captured forever in a photograph.

Focus only on what matters to you. If you don't want 500 structed photos, don't have them, use that time in a way that feels right to you, mingling, dancing, eating..

Make the most of this day, its less than 24 hours but the biggest day of your lives.

✨ Fooooood ✨

This is such a big thing, not just for weddings but for life. Everyone loves food so you will of course want to thoroughly enjoy every thing you eat on your wedding day. Just make sure that you don't get so wrapped up in the celebrations that you forget to eat!

It's absolutely a good idea to ask your caterers to put aside some food for you to have when you get back to your room should you be hungry, this applies to cake too. Not many couples actually eat their wedding cake so be sure to have some boxed up and put in your room for you - all that drinking and dancing will make you thankful for the snacks later on!

✨ Who will you invite to dinner? ✨

Lets be honest, not everyone you know is going to make the cut, you've got some difficult decisions ahead of you.

There are no wrong or right ways to create a guestlist, no fool proof plan to follow. Just try and remember its your day, you can't please everyone and you invite who you want to invite.

Will people you see in the street assume they're coming? Yes. Will people want a plus one for their new boyfriend? Definitely. Will you be chasing people for RSVP's? Absolutely you will.

Just relax, enjoy the ride and do what feels right to you.

✨ Photographer ✨

This is something I cannot stress enough as a wedding planner - Choose your photographer carefully.

Take your time when choosing your photographer, when the day has finished and the memories are fading these are the people honoured with the task of keeping your day alive for so many years to come.

Find someone that has a style you like, someone you feel comfortable around, someone that understands your vision for your wedding and someone you can laugh and enjoy yourself with.

If possible meet them before you book to have a chat about your plans and requirements and to see if you click with them. Ask them for their advice and recommendations for your wedding photos, they may have insider venue tips and know the best places to take your photos.

Your photographer has a very important role at your wedding, be sure to choose wisely!

✨ Wedding location ✨

My dad is a good one for always wondering 'why is their wedding so far away?'

Its absolutely because you need to find the perfect venue and for most couples distance isn't that much of a concern. A lot of venues have accommodation on site so getting home on a night time isn't a problem - it's actually less of a problem than a local venue! Most venues also have a marriage licence to hold your ceremony so you can enjoy your whole day without any logistical nightmares.

Its all personal preference, remember you won't always please everyone.
