In this job I meet so many different couples, with different loves, different ways to spend their lives together, to show affection and to 'be' with each other.

Despite the fun, adventure and big energy that these two have- I was struck by how much peace there was when they paused. Soul-mates for certain.

GOOD NEWS! Loads of venues let you bring your pooch onsite nowadays and frankly, how could you say no to a smile like that anyway.

Whether it's for the family photos, to be the best man, ring bearer, paw prints as signatures or simply another smiley face to walk down the aisle to.

If there's a green light from the venue thats when we work out in some puppy love and the ideas come flooding.

We'll be besties in no time and I've been known to hide a frankfurter in my handbag... but that's a story for another time.

✨ The Marriage ✨

It's my wedding anniversary today, and so ensues the mush. The wedding day really is only the beginning, it's the marriage when it all reaaaally gets going.

I once read (instagrammed) that you love your husband / wife, the LEAST on your wedding day and that your love in marriage should grow from there. And sure enough, today as we exchanged cards we had written...
⭐ "I love you more than ever"
⭐ "It just keeps getting better and better"

Now, it might not be new or trendy or win me any super-edgy-cool kudos... But here's the thing, I'm a wedding celebrant and I believe in marriage. Your wedding day is just the beginning of the great love, honour, devotion and cherishing of each other that you will share from there on out. And I actually do think that IS pretty blooming cool.

Without a doubt it takes effort, to be kind, to be united, to share your time and energy, to champion each other, to listen, to appreciate and to give. Life also gets crappy and throws a load of new stuff into the mix. But, move through it. Together. And it can bring you closer.

Jon and I may have only been married a handful of years but hopefully with many more to go... and i'm sure it won't be the only year i'm being a pile of mushy peas. So I'm sorry (not sorry) if this makes you cringe, but I do, after all, celebrate love for a living. Why not celebrate my own.

p.s if you've made it this far I hope you've enjoyed reading to the soundtrack of our first dance together.

💙 Including your young ones 💙

This was the sweetest family! It was really important to include J' and J's gorgeous daughters in this very special ceremony.

So here's what we came up with...

✨They got to choose who went first with the vows, Daddy was the immediate, decisive response...
✨ They were the surprise ring bearers, a very exciting moment.
✨ They then squeezed and squeezed the rings to warm them with all their love and wishes.
✨ Mummy and Daddy made a vow to love and respect them both for the rest of their lives.
✨They were the witnesses to the ceremony and the certificate was covered in x's and o's and notes of love.

It was very sweet and a joy to be a part of.

It's not essential, but I think an order of service can be a beautiful touch and a special keepsake.

This lovely order of service was for Katy and Archie's wedding in the Summer, and I loved how it laid out the ceremony content in detail. Orders of service can nod to tradition in a gentle way, and there's always the personal and modern twist of having me as the celebrant once we get going.

The ceremony isn't the boring bit, it's literally THE moment when it all feels real, and you are marrying the love of your life. Take a moment during it to be still and take it all in like this gorgeous couple did.

Yes, if we need to, we may run slightly over, but there is NO WAY i'm going to rush you through your vows, or break-up a moment of deep love and connection when you stand eye to eye.

If you need a moment to collect yourself or to have a giggle, you've got it.

It's another plus of working with me. I will hold space for you to really REALLY make the ceremony yours.
