We sent over a few questions ahead of our event with chef Ed Barrow at on Thursday 29th August to go behind the scenes with a pivotal player in the pasta scene!

Ed created The Monday Pasta Club from a hobby that turned into a passion and now an expertise! The event date also marks the official release of his first cookbook under The Monday Pasta Club name, and we are extremely lucky to have him share the day with us ✨

The evening will be finished off with performances from guitarist and harmony perfectionists

Absolutely love this quote and the feelings it’s brings up when thinking about how the chefs and artists move us with their craft. How special it is to be sharing their beautiful stories of the ordinary through heartfelt lyrics and delicious, personal dishes.

‘We believe that creating a sustainable society is about weaving change into people’s day to day lives. What we do is accessible and affordable to local people, which makes it an easier choice for people to make. At RCG we are striving to find a balance of using products, materials and processes which are ethical, sustainable, affordable, healthy and local. That is a long list of desires and sometimes we need to compromise but it’s a great starting point!

When it comes to produce, we are finding this balance can be achieved through growing our own and either simply selling it straight out of the ground, or in a soup or chilli. Our shop sells our fruit and vegetables which is grown on site as well as other food products, such as honey made from our resident bees. We also operate a non-single use plastic approach and customers are encouraged to BYO or invest in a bag for life (or just carry it!)

We are a supporter of the closed loop (or circular economy) approach – our coffee cups and other tableware are compostable. Some of our customers love this as it fits well with their life choices, other don’t even notice and are only interested in a great (ethical) cup of coffee, but the outcome is the same.
Education is key to successfully meeting the aims that are central to RCG. We have over 150 children visit weekly from local pre-schools and schools, who love to get involved in growing and harvesting and learning about how, where and when things grow.

Running the Garden can be challenging. However, we are constantly overwhelmed by support from our community and details of what coming to RCG means to them, whether it’s allowing a frazzled parent to have a cuppa, volunteers who have found a home for their skills or learnt a new one or simply visitors wondering around the veg’.

🍁Autumn Festival Launch🍁

We are back this Autumn with 7 incredible events across the month of October!

7 venues 🏠will host 7 incredible local chefs 🧑‍🍳, and 14 talented musicians 🎺 to create one off evenings showcasing Bristol’s culinary a musical art scenes.

These events are intimate supper clubs with after dinner musical showcases. The chefs and musicians will have time to speak about their craft throughout the evening, welcoming questions from the audience.

While she is across the way in Mexico, I thought now would be a good moment to sneak in our appreciation for Lara - fulfilling all of BB’s visual desires!

From collaborating to create our logo, to designing stunning menu cards and all other graphic design wizardry, Lara has been able to help tell our story through art so perfectly!

Each design will be printed on the back of each menu card at our Winter Festival this February.

Winter Festival 2023 🫑

This February brings our first seasonal festival of 2023. We couldn’t be more excited to once again show off our home city’s special culinary and performing arts’ scene!

8 unique and intimate events, 8 established local chefs, 16 brilliant local musicians across 6 varied venues

Our biggest event yet took place on 24th November at the wonderful new Wiper and True taproom in Old Market - wow was it amazing to see so many of you enjoying the food, music and beers on offer!

We had the main course provided by the ever-delicious and dessert by our lovely friend at - not sure we have ever enjoyed such aesthetically pleasing puds!

The musical course was first dished up by Americana Artist, , with a passionate rendition of her own songs. Savannah was followed by the energetic and enigmatic Boabab Roots who filled the room with catchy African fusion music.

The final course came from - a bluesey 5-piece band with beautiful harmonies, catchy lyrics and audience participation…

We are so grateful to everybody involved and to all of the guests that came along to enjoy the evening. We had photographer on hand to document the evening… swipe for our favourite guest of the evening…

Is there anything that brings in the festive season better than indulging in delicious food, listening to music and being with your loved ones? Whilst we think that this sort of thing should be enjoyed all year round, we are absolutely thrilled to bring you a special 3-part Buskers’ Banquet festival over three dates in December.

An idea cooked up with our friends at The Scrandit (who are located, fittingly, on Christmas Steps) at the end of our Autumn Festival, we have three cosy venues and three incredible chefs ready to bring you menus to celebrate the festive season, not to mention the array of talented musicians who have may throw in a Christmas song or two…
