Leigh Court is a 19th Century Mansion in the heart of Leigh Woods, Bristol.
Built in 1814 for Bristol’s first recorded millionaire, our Grade II* Listed Mansion retains many of the original regency-era features including the beautifully ornate ceilings in the ground floor rooms, which you can see below.
The building and grounds are now looked after by an experienced estate and events crew, headed up by Natasha and Sam Shinner. Their teams will look after you in the run up to your event and will take care of you and your guests on the day.
As well as a conference, wedding, and event venue, Leigh Court is frequently used as a filming location and regularly appears in BBC drama Poldark.
The Great Hall is the breathtaking heart of Leigh Court. The suspended double staircase makes a fantastic platform for speakers or musicians, or an elegant entrance for brides and grooms. The original glass ceiling, marble patterned floor, and Flight & Robson organ, complete this spectacular room.
Like all the ground floor rooms at Leigh Court, the Great Hall is licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies.
Completed in 1814, Leigh Court was in it’s prime during the Regency era, and it’s not hard to imagine elegant couples dancing below the fashionably ornate ceilings. Now known as The Tapestry Room, an 1840 oil painting by Thomas L. S. Rowbotham hints that this was once used as the Drawing Room.
The Tapestry Room can be set up in a variety of styles to accommodate between 26 and 65 guests for your event or celebration.
The Morning Room is traditionally the sunniest room in the house and would have been used to entertain guests or while away the time in the morning.
The floor-to-ceiling windows in this beautiful dual aspect room overlook the East lawn and the entrance to Leigh Court, creating a bright and relaxed atmosphere for you and your guests.
The Bar and Lounge are perfect for small events or meetings, or can be used as a breakout area during larger conferences. The high-ceilings and full-length windows make these smaller rooms feel spacious and full of character.
The former Library is the largest room at Leigh Court, all five of the floor-to-ceiling windows open out to the East lawn. This room can seat up to 150 guests.
The Salon windows open directly onto the North lawn, so guests can spill out into the grounds during a drinks reception or conference break. It is also the room that would connect to a marquee should you hire one for your event.
