It's so as a small business owner I thought it's a good opportunity for an About Me post!

Hi, I'm Lauren! I've lived in Yate since 2019, and am married with two children, aged 5 and 3.

I joined ARTventurers a year ago, and am loving it! Prior to that I worked as an illustrator, I enjoyed the creative aspect and being self employed, but I missed being around people.

I've realised in recent months I'm neurodivergent - there are definitely a lot of autistic traits there although I'm not sure I'd reach a diagnostic threshold. One of those traits is that I really struggle to recognise people. I am really trying my best to get to know everyone, but please don't be offended if I get confused in class or blank you in the street!

I have no free time. But if I did have free time, I would enjoy knitting, drawing, crafting, and cooking.

Today is Small Business Saturday - a day all about supporting local small businesses 😍

There are so many ways in which you can show support to a local small business like ours. Even if you can't get along to classes any more, little things like sharing and commenting on their social media posts, leaving a review and telling your friends can make such a BIG difference.

There's a quote that says "Every time that you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance". And we can tell you for sure at Team ARTventurers - that is actually true! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Venue focus - Ridgewood Community Centre
This is where I hold my weekly sessions, and some holiday sessions (Holiday sessions are in a bigger room).

There's a big carpark right by the door you'd go in to reach our room, and a smaller one around the front. On the off-chance both are full, you can park at the shopping centre a few minutes away, or in the surrounding streets, although I've never seen it full.

I'm really impressed by how seriously the staff take safety and security. They have a lockdown procedure in place which all class leaders are made aware of, and they've recently installed keypads to all external doors so no one can enter without the code. There is a first aid kit in every room, and they have a paediatric defibrillator on site.

It's a short walk into town, so you can easily grab a coffee after the session with your new ARTventurers friends!
