Samhain, Samhain, Samhain

Our celebration last year was blimmin’ lovely, as ever, we aim to do an event that if we went to and didn’t organise, we’d think back on and smile at the experience. So following last years food and music is a hard, hard task.

News on what we have planned coming shortly by the way

Also, as an addition I found and bought this book earlier. If anyone’s not aware of this type of book it involves a story that develops through your choosing of what decisions and outcomes arise as you read. I would love to read it and we all choose the route the story unfolds this Samhain…

Is this an idea we would enjoy? It’s hard to know. But might just give it a try.

However you are celebrating this Samhain, I hope you see it as not just about sweets, tarots and spooky stuff, but about preparing yourself to release pressures and not be ready to rest in the coming months ahead, like the trees and insects and birds, we too are nature and need the time to reflect just as much, despite what life can say otherwise.

Books.
Books.
Yep, more books.
Oh wow, so many books.
A whole section on Alastair Crowley books.
And look over there, another great book.

Ventured to the big smoke this week and happened upon a truly amazing bookshop about a 10min walk from Euston station. has a collection unlike I’ve seen before. Even found a book on Yorkshire folklore that mentions where my family are based, a small village no less.

Last pic is of also nearby a tube spot, but this time Victoria. A Snugly forcing cafe plonking its way into the urban wilds of skyscraper buildings buzzing with moneymakers and suited tech supremos , a literal bubble of forget the world greenery where a mere tiny stroll down a winding path removes you into its green dreamy canopy of nook and cranny seats, nestling you in under a blanket of ferns and dangling branches. Immediately it disconnects you from the dreadfully draining pace and demands of London and with great ease too.

Recommended.

Amazing to have sold out for this Sundays autumn equinox celebration

We really hope that it’s down to a desire that we’re feeling to reconnect with the seasons and nature…which is why we started this.

If you sadly missed out on a ticket apologies, we’re limited to numbers if we go indoors, however, if the weather looks promising, as it is, we will add more tickets and head outdoors around an open fire…here’s hoping.

We will post later in the week when we know better what the best option is.

See you Sunday.

Tomorrow’s event info below

Utterly gutted that the weather has made us make the really hard decision to postpone tomorrows walk. It might be lovely in the end but right now the forecast says rain at 2pm and we don’t want to cause issue with the planned days activities so yeah, really gutted, and sorry to those who bought and sold out our little trek to the stones.

We promise to rearrange and will email about that and further details to those who got a ticket.

If you are stuck what to do now tomorrow, we recommend…

Soapbox racing in Victoria park with live music from drumming group batala bristol

Mina road park in St Werburghs have their annual community festival from 1pm, always a good day out

Zinezilla arts fest at trinity centre

have a cèiligh on the night, tickets need to be booked beforehand though

Again apologies and we will be rearranging this event

Folklore and nature are deeply connected. Through story, rituals, songs, traditions our interconnectedness can be learnt and our responsibility for the environment can be shared.

Cultures around the world who have seen folklore culture die out or wiped out, often through colonialism and capitalism, can see their biodiversity suffer. If we care for something we will protect it.

Example of this is Latoon Fairy Bush in County Clare, Ireland. It is believed that the tree represents a meeting place between worlds for mortals and that of the fairies in the other world. Folklorist Eddie Lenihan led a preservation campaign in 1999 to save it from being cut down when a motorway was being built. Lenihan warned that its destruction could have resulted in “death and great misfortune for motorists travelling on the proposed new road”. The tree was spared and the motorway was built around it.

So keep folklore alive!
