๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’› Weekend Round-Up 17/18th August 2024 ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ

1st XI travelled to Midsomer Norton on Saturday looking to continue their fine run of form. The side had plenty of changes as the holiday season is in full flow but it didn't stem the momentum and the feel good factor within the team. MSN batted first on a very tricky wicket posting 156ao, Jake Carstens 3-23 and Sam Wheller 2-28 being the main contributors of a fine first half.
Keynsham got off to a nightmare start falling to 22-7 in the run chase. Some innovative ways of taking wickets ensured the hosts had full control of the game. Dilshan Wijayakumar 70* was superbly assisted by Scott Tweedie 22 & Sam Wheller 24* to ensure Keynsham took an unbelievable victory home back to the FTMG.

2nd XI took on MSN 2s at the KCG. Very much like the ones with lots of changes brought in club stalwart and Mutil-Sports Holiday Camp leader Tom Bryan back into the ranks. 2s batted first and posted 159/5, Sam Lowe 47* and Tom Kennedy 32 being the highest scorers on a tricky surface. MSN ensured honours were even after both games by chasing down the score 4 wickets down. Matt Trenchard 1-14 and John Courtney 1-18 being Keynsham's most disciplined bowlers. The 2s have two huge games remaining with their fate still not sealed in Division One, a trip to Golden Hill followed by Hambrook at home on the final day awaits.

3rd XI travelled to Bristol Eagles still in the hunt for a place in the two promotion spots of Division 6. Eagles batted first and posted 177ao, the Husband brothers being the main destroyers with Barney 3-36 and Charlie 2-30. This game would go right down to the wire with the eventual winners being the 3rds. A fine match-winning innings of Kevin De Beer 35* assisted by Rob Cooke 28 endured the 3s remain in the hunt. Games with Brislington 3s and Bath 4ths await their eventual outcome.

4th XI took on Chilcompton Sports on Sunday looking to continue their own promotion charge. Alex White 100* and Kevin De Beer 60* ensured the hosts racked up 295/4 in the first innings. Chilcompton would end up 190 short with Sam Biddleston 3-1 and Syd Arblaster 2-15 being the main contributors in victory.

Tomorrow night the Premier Division East 2024 comes to an end with all to play for. Downend Cricket Club currently sits at the top of the table with Keynsham closely behind. If the Keynsham can get the win they'll over turn the NRR advantage the away team currently hold and reach the Premier T20 final.

The game shall commence at 6pm with all the fireworks to follow, all support would be greatly appreciated in what promises to be a great finale to the Midweek T20 league.

๐Ÿ Saturday Results Round-Up ๐Ÿ

All three Saturday Teams record important wins as goals towards survival and promotion chasing remain on course.

1st XI played Ilminster at home in their penultimate home game of the season and picked up an important 4 wkt victory. Ilminster batted first and were undone by spin twins Ahmed Syed 4-13 and Jake Carstens 3-13 to be bowled out for 94. Keynsham's chase wasn't plain sailing unfortunately, regular wickets gave the opposition a sniff but Will Burston 27 and Jake Carstens 23 ensured we made it four wins in a row at home and a huge 20 points for our efforts.

2nd XI travelled to Lansdown looking to record back to back victories. Keynsham batted first at Combe Park and would rack up 257. Eddie Johnson would return to Lansdown and haunt them with 88* which was assisted once again by Syd Arblaster 43. As many of us know, historically the outfield and smaller boundaries straight at Lansdown always keep you in the game chasing and this would be the case. Eddie Johnson 4-58 and Joe Jackson 3-38 would ensure that Keynsham did go back to the FTMG with another impressive win. Lansdown would fall short by 10 runs as Keynsham over took their hosts in the league table.

3rd XI took on Dyrham & Hinton looking to give some payback for earlier in the year. Dyrham & Hinton would bat first at Chew Magna, Dave Burston's impressive season would continue recording 3-1 which was backed up with Zach Mabey's 3-25 as Keynsham would fire out D&H for 85. Very much like the 1st XI chase, K's would lose regular wickets in their chase. Ollie Hemmings 41 and Ian Fiebelkorn 16 ensured Keynsham would get revenge on D&H and ensure they sit just behind the two promotion spots.

4th XI didn't have a game this weekend, Bristol Mavericks would leap frog them into top spot. Lots to play for at the top of the league with North Bristol just behind also.

On Monday 22nd July KCC U15s won their league following a โ€˜winner takes allโ€™ game away to fellow table topping Marshfield.

Keynsham batted first scoring 129 for 4 off 20 overs. Marshfield are talented side and the wicket was good, with a fast outfield. The target was achievable for Marshfield if our lads didnโ€™t bowl to their potential.

They bowled well but it all came down to the last over as Sam Lamb took the ball. His first delivery found the boundary but he responded brilliantly, taking a wicket with his second ball and Marshfield needed 5 to win off the last 4 balls. 3 dot balls and two runs off the last ball saw the Keynsham boys home to a fabulous win.

Huge celebrations from the KCC lads, coaches and parents!

Team on the day was:
Sam Biddleston (Capt)
Louis Seaman (Wkt)
Tom Giblin
Conor Hill
Dylan Thompson
Freddie Cripps
Sam Williams
Dylan Flower
Ronnie Southgate
Oscar Hayes
Sam Lamb

The league win was also delivered by a few lads who could make the Marshfield game:

Barney Husband
Frankie Jordan
Matt McClay

๐Ÿ Weekend Round-Up 3/4th August 2024 ๐Ÿ

3/4 wins for the boys in Keynsham colours this weekend.

1st XI travelled to table toppers Downend CC on Saturday afternoon looking to replicate last year's display at the WG Grace Memorial Ground.
Jake Carstens despite running two people out managed to get to 86, aided by Suranga Lakmal's quick 40 enabled Keynsham to post 312 in the first innings. Downend would reply in remarkable fashion by hitting regular boundaries and putting the away side backs against the ropes. Sam Wheller 3-58 and Lakmal's 2-45 however halted Downend as Keynsham recorded an away day victory.

2nd XI faced Winterbourne in the battle of the bottom two. Winterbourne batted first and would reach a competitive 163ao. Freddie Eyston 90* and Syd Arblaster 64* enabled the hosts to get home in style recording a much needed victory and 20 huge points to safety.

3rd XI travelled to promotion chasing rivals Bristol Pakistanis at Netham Playing Fields with both sides looking to get one over another. Bristol Pakistanis would post a very competitive 261ao, Dave Burston 5-45 and John Courtney 2-38 returning the best figures. Keynsham were on course to pull off the chase with great work from Jack Tweedie 93 and Tom Kennedy 89 however a flurry of 7 wkts ensured Bristol Pakistanis held on for the win.

4th XI hosted Bathford CC at the FTMG on Sunday. Alex White 102 and Charlie Husband 97 ensured Keynsham posted a mammoth total of 307/6 from their 40 overs. Bathford would finish second best in only posting 125 in return. Matt Curzon 3-6 and Syd Arblaster 3-14 ensured Keynsham continued to push for promotion out of NSCL Sunday Conference Division 4.

๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’› Weekend Round-Up 27/28th July 2024 ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š

1st XI win back to back home games to keep the survival fight alive. High flying Congresbery arrived at the FTMG full of confidence after an impressive first season in WEPL 2. They won the toss and batted and posted a competitive 211 all out. Captain for the day Sam Wheller 3-17 and James Burston 3-24 doing the damage in the middle overs. Keynsham would show great patience and maturity in the chase as would get over the line 3 down thanks to superb contributions by all. Will Burston 92 and Jake Carstens 38* being the highest contributors giving the home side 20 massive points.

2nd XI travelled to Lodway looking to end a run of defeats. Lodway batted first and posted a competitive 216/9 from their 40 overs. Joe Jackson 3-45 and Eddie Johnson 2-37 taking the best returns. Unfortunately the Keynsham side would find themselves leaving Lodway with 9 points and on the wrong side of victory. Sam Lowe 41, and Chris Gwyther 25, were the notable scorers as they fell 35 short.

3s continued their promotion hunt with a fine victory over Thornbury on Saturday afternoon. Thornbury batted first and could only reach 99 thanks to Dave Burston 3-26 and Josh Bassett 2-15. The home side would reach their target after both opening partners reached 40. Syd Arblaster 41, Tom Kennedy 40 helped Keynsham pick up the maximum 20 points available.

4th XI looked to break the habit of losing at home as they welcomed Old Down on Sunday afternoon. Keynsham would win the toss and would set a target of 289 after a fine innings by Scott Tweedie 110* and Alex White 63 being the highest scorers. Old Down would struggle from the start of keeping up with the required rate and would fall 164 short thanks to Zane Bignell 2-5 and Kevin De Beer 2-23 having the best returns for the Keynsham side.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป SEMI-FINALISTS ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

On Sunday morning the KCC Women's Team were in a Cup Quarter Final match taking on Hawkesbury Upton CC Women at The Frank Taylor Memorial Ground.

Keynsham would lose the toss and were inserted first. The KCC women would post 160/3 from their 100 balls largely thanks to Anna Walby 56* and Jess Holloway 39. Hawkesbury in return faced a disciplined attack of Keynsham who were greatly supported in the field as Hawkesbury could only manage 107 in return.

The KCC Women await their Semi Final opponents with games still taking place. We however will let you know the important date as soon as we have it. All support greatly appreciated for this game as well as others.

Well done to all involved and great to see a KCC side in the Semi Finals!
