Knowle Ladies Win!

Congratulations to our Ladies Section who today won the Bristol & District Ladies Golf Alliance Scratch Foursomes.

After wins in previous rounds against Bath, Bristol & Clifton & Weston, today they faced Mendip on neutral ground at Filton.

In a closely fought match our pairing of Jo Hodge & Sophie Williams won through 2&1 to clinch the trophy.

Well done to Jo, Sophie as well as Megan & Co who played in previous rounds.

Our Captain’s Day took place yesterday with a day of golf followed by a BBQ and live music.

200 Members took part in the 4BBB competition, well done to Gary Robins and Mike Smith winning with 46 points.

Thomas Sneddon, Ellie Holmes & Will Rellie are off to the England Golf Finals at Woodhall Spa to represent Gloucestershire in August👏

The three represented Knowle in the Junior County Team Championship which took place at Chipping Sodbury GC on Monday and won with a score of 140 🏆

Well done team, this will be a great experience for you at such an amazing venue. The Championship takes place on the 14th & 15th August (practice round on 13th August)⛳️

Our Story

The Knowle Golf Club was founded in 1905 when the three founder members were Dr. J. J. P. Lucas, P. C. Berrill and W. P. Lucas.

This arose because a few of the local sportsmen, most of whom had been closely connected with Knowle Cricket Club and Football, thought it would be good for the neighbourhood to run a golf club, so the old Race Course was prospected and a 9 hole course was laid out, with one hole somewhere approaching half a mile in length.

In 1925 the present course was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Bristol and since the late 1930's has been owned by the club, and although more houses now adjoin it than was the case when it was first opened it has in no way been spoiled and retains it's beauty.

Over the years our Club has produced and is home to the finest players to emerge from our region. Gordon Brand Jnr (Ryder Cup player), Mark Sanders (English Amateur Champion), Hannah Barwood (Curtis Cup player) Susan Shapcott (Curtis Cup player) are all products of our fantastic junior programme, for which we are renowned.
