This weekend, Matt and Tracy had the honour of joining a panel at the Flowers from the Farm conference 💐✨ The theme was flower farming for the future!

Our role as Flowervision was to look into how flower farmers and wholesalers can work together to create a stronger, more sustainable floral industry.

Tracy said: “It was great to meet such a passionate and knowledgeable community and share all of ourcombined experience, I have definitely come away with lots of ideas not to mention new friends” 💚

It’s National Tulip Day in the Netherlands, which means tulip season has officially begun! 🌷✨🇳🇱

Here are a few interesting facts about tulips:

🌷 There are over 3,000 different varieties, from simple, single colours to vibrant patterns

🌷The Netherlands grows around 4.3 billion tulip bulbs each year making it the world’s biggest exporter!

🌷 During WWII, tulip bulbs were actually eaten when food was scarce (apparently not great, but not toxic either)

🌷Tulips symbolise love, with different colours carrying their own meaning - red for passion, yellow for happiness, and white for forgiveness

🌷 Back in the 1630s, tulip prices got so high during “Tulip Mania” that they caused one of the first economic bubbles

Meet the Team: Ryan ✨ Say hello to Ryan, our fantastic new Transport Manager at Flowervision Bristol! Ryan joined us just two months ago and has already become an integral part of the team. He’s the man behind the smooth running of our transport department, ensuring everything operates efficiently. From managing drivers to planning routes and ensuring vehicle compliance, Ryan’s role is vital to Flowervision 🚚

🌸 What’s your favourite thing about working at Flowervision Bristol?
The staff! The team here is so friendly and close-knit. It creates such an amazing atmosphere to work in.

🌸 If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would have to be my wife’s slow-cooker leg of lamb with mixed veg. It’s absolutely delicious!

🌸 What are your hobbies?
When I’m not working, I love playing football, running and watching Formula 1 and MotoGP. They’re great ways to relax and stay active.

🌸 What could you not live without for a day at Flowervision?
The coffee machine! I definitely need an espresso to kickstart my day and keep everything running smoothly.

Who agrees that it wouldn’t be Christmas without some beautiful ilex berries in their arrangements? ✨🎄

Take a look behind the scenes at ilex grower in the Netherlands, recently visited by some of the team from 💐

Did you know the leaves of the ilex plant naturally die back and fall away from the stems before the berries? Growers speed up this process after the stems are harvested by covering them with a layer of plastic for around 10 days. After this resting period, the ilex branches are given a good shake, and the leaves simply fall away. Check out to watch this super satisfying process! 🍃✨
