Just casting my mind back a few weeks ago to Carly and Pat's wedding at the beautiful Elmhay Park. I loved working with this gorgeous colour palette of bright coral Peonies, Dahlias and Roses as the statement blooms, and various tones of whites, peach and apricot peppered with pops of blue and orange hues. A real pleasure to create!!

Really excited to announce the date for this year’s Christmas Wreath Workshop with Barley & Mabel!!

Our Christmas wreath making workshop will take place on Saturday 2nd December, 2-4pm at Backwell Parish Hall. Why not guarantee your place and book early!

Relax and have some festive fun learning how to create your very own bespoke Christmas door wreath using a variety of fresh seasonal foliages and natural decorations. All materials and sundries are provided, as well as full tuition and refreshments including tea/coffee (or other soft drink), a glass of Prosecco and a festive treat.

After a short break, I'm now set up and raring to go in my new garden studio here in Backwell.

I'll be specialising in florals for weddings, events and funerals, and running occasional floristry workshops (local venues and dates to be decided).

GIFT SHOP SALE.....we've made further reductions!!
There are only 8 days to go until the gift shop closes (Fri 31st March), and everything must go..... apart from our gorgeous flowers of course, as we will continue to create beautiful arrangements to order.

A massive thank you to everyone who ordered, enquired, browsed or bought flower arrangements and gifts from us for this Mother's Day weekend. Your support is so appreciated!

We've flowered our socks off over the past 3 days, been in our element, eaten quite a few sausages and drank lots of coffee to keep us going. Time to put our feet up today 🌻

As we will be moving to a new space in the not too distant future, it means that our current premises will be available to lease from 1st April onwards. Read on for more details:

This ground floor retail unit presents well and is within an end-of-terrace building located at 43 Rodney Road in Backwell, North Somerset, BS48 3HW. The space is 671 sq ft/62.33 sq m.

The unit is currently occupied by a floristry business, and is configured as an open plan sales area. It could easily be configured as an office space too. It has a separate preparation area, store, kitchenette, and single WC. There is also rear access to a car park with one allocated parking space.

Barley & Mabel are really looking forward to the year ahead, and now as we come into Spring, we would like to share our plans with you. In a nutshell…..

Barley & Mabel will be moving premises, and we have lots of exciting plans ahead!

Our current premises are up for lease!

We are now taking mothers day orders!

We are having a gift shop sale!

Due to the demand for our floral gift arrangements, wedding, event and funeral floristry, we will be scaling back our retail offering. This is so that we can really focus our attention on providing beautiful and exquisite floral arrangements for all our lovely customers and clients. We will still be taking orders for flower bouquets and arrangements, and will have a full program of workshops throughout the year.

This means that the shop space at 43 Rodney Road will be available to lease from April. If you are interested and would like a viewing or to find out more details please call Tanya on 07766 775959.

In the meantime, what will March bring?

We are still operating as a shop and taking orders as usual for Mother’s Day and everyday gift bouquets and arrangements. Our opening hours are 09.30am to 1pm Tuesdays to Saturdays. We will also be open on Sunday 19th March for Mother’s Day collections. There will be a sale on our gift products too. More info to come, so watch this space!!

What will April bring?

We will be operating as a working studio from 43 Rodney Road until the new tenants move in. You can still order the same beautiful bouquets and arrangements from us by phone, email or instagram/facebook message. All we ask is for a few days notice. Arrangements can still be collected or delivered as usual.

Our studio location will change after this, but will still be in Backwell. More details to follow.

With Mother's Day just 3 weeks away, we are now taking orders. This years bouquets will include beautiful British grown blooms such as Tulips, Narcissi, Ranunculus, Hellebores and Alstromeria.

Seasonal jam jars start from £12
Seasonal bunches are £20
Seasonal bouquets start from £25 and are presented in a gift box amongst layers of delicate tissue paper, with a hand written note.

To guarantee your bouquet, please pre-order.

You can collect on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th March, or we can also deliver. 🌻🌿

Fresh and vibrant Smith and Munson Tulips are now available at the shop. These British beauties will be making an appearance in our Valentine's bouquets this week, along with Cornish grown Alstromeria, and ruffled creamy white scented Daffodils called "Early Cheerfulness!"

The shop is open 9.30am to 4pm tomorrow and Tuesday for orders and collections.

Barley Wood Floristry is an independent florist providing beautiful arrangements for weddings, funerals and occasions as well as fun and creative workshops. We are based at our studio in the beautiful Barley Wood Walled Garden, Wrington, overlooking the Mendip Hills.

Our floral designs are often influenced by the world around us, whether from watching the seasons change, or admiring the textures and colours in our surroundings. We also take inspiration from our client’s ideas and themes for their important or special event.

We love passing on our knowledge to our workshop customers, seeing everyone having fun, enjoying the abundance of flowers, and exploring their creativity to produce unique and beautifully finished arrangements.

When we’re not creating or teaching, we tend the flower beds here at the walled garden, cultivating the current season’s finest flowers.
