After days of cold and grey weather with low light levels, finally the sun showed itself on Wednesday, a perfect day for a spot of polytunnel cleaning by Oakhill Window & Gutter Cleaning. What a difference it made, in a few weeks the tunnels will be full with hundreds of seedlings and plants as seed sowing has begun. It's such a busy, exciting time of year!

The start of 2025 has been busy, there was us thinking we would have a quiet January, how wrong we were.
The great thing is that we have been able to work outside and things are looking good in the polytunnels and flower field. The trainees have all been having reviews and we are making progress with our new venture, we will soon be selling seeds collected from our site, this will mean job opportunities for some of the trainees.
We have just attended the Flowers From The Farm conference in Nottingham, a wonderful couple of days with inspiring speakers and lots of lively discussions about the future of British Flowers.
Also at this event Jo finally stood down as External Chair ( I stood down last September), after two years and a complete restructure of this unique organisation we are certainly looking forward to having more time and having a slightly easier year! We leave FFTF a Trade Association with a new board of directors.
Over the next few weeks we will be adding some more workshops and events to the website, and just to give you the heads up, were having our open day in July this year!

So it’s bye 2024 and hello 2025. A New Year and one that Jo will celebrate 30 years working in the horticultural industry and specifically Social and Therapeutic Horticulture. When Jo and I met 17 years ago we never thought we would be on such a journey, one that continues. We’re looking forward to leaving some things behind and new beginnings.
From us all at Organic Blooms we wish you a peaceful, thoughtful new year with new beginnings.

It's a wrap. The wreaths are made, the orders are done and we've decked the halls of Acton Court. We ended the year with a visit to Fired Up Ceramics and a Christmas party.
We're not going to deny that 2024 has been one of our most challenging years, flooding, high winds damaging the polytunnels, our time spent as co-chairs of Flowers From The Farm and personal loss, But our trainees always inspire and amaze us and Organic Blooms continues to be a wonderful place to work.
We have said goodbye to some trainees and welcomed new ones, including a group of young adults who have adapted so well to being in a workplace and we look forward to supporting them over the next couple of years into work beyond OB.
As always we would like to say Thank You to everyone who supports us, we couldn't do it without you, we are looking forward to 2025 and have lots of exciting plans!
Happy Christmas from us all at Organic Blooms.

Over the last three weekends over a hundred people have attended our Wreath making workshops, thank you to everyone who came along, it was lovely to see so many familiar and new faces.
The wreaths made were fabulous and we look forward to seeing you next year, and don't forget to bring your ribbon as we strive to make our wreaths more sustainable!
