What a start to 2025.

What a lovely group of wreath makers.
So great to see lots of different groups. A mum and son, a young couple, best friends, daughters and mum all wanting to share the experience of making a wreath for Christmas together.
It was particularly heartening to see a few familiar faces too, I love that you come back each year.

With the last few workshops over the weekend and a table centre workshop next Thursday evening it is nearly time to make my own wreath, and with some absolutely brilliant wreaths made this year the bar has been set really high.

A Brilliant AFTERNOON was spent wreath making with these lovely ladies .

Been out today gathering all the lovely evergreen foliage from this time of year ready for my wreath workshops that start on Saturday.

I love traditional yew, but use it turned over to show off it's yellow tinged side. And of course, I couldn't be without those divine round ivy berries that add so much shape and interest to a wreath.

Can't wait to start the workshops....

Thank you to the following people for organising and forming the panel in last night's fund raising dinner to appreciate, through hearing about land stories, more ramifications of the Israeli bombardment of the region. 

I learned of the intentional destruction of food producing trees in Palestine and being replaced with pine trees to disguise the destruction of villages and to give a more european looking landscape for the settlers.

The way food can be part of cultural propoganda. 

Via a live link to hear from Phillipe, a journalist living in Beirut about the state of agriculture and ecocide in Lebanon and Palestine. Plus his recomendation to finacially support equally large NGO's -especially the Red Cross as well as grass roots organisations.

In the next few days I will give details of grassroots organisations that Miranda from Shork - one of the organisers- recomends and has long term and personal connection with.  

At the end of the evening the organisers invited us all to find our own ways to support the Palestinian and Lebanese people. For people who live in Bristol please visit .food to see the beautiful cooking ingredients that Miranda and her husband import from small growers in Lebanon, often donating much of their profit to Lebanese grassroot charities.

I must confess to be a bit apprehensive for today's taster workshop.

It was a 1 to 2 person class with an autistic person and her colleague. I haven't had experience in this realm but what a laugh we had. And if I am allowed to hand out gold stars these two definately got them.
