Rise Up (Singer Jo Jo C) for Bromley Disability Pride 2023
This song shows the strength and power in recovery from a breakdown which led to psychosis. Having Bipolar, ADHD and an autoimmune disease nearly had me… but I Rose Up thanks to the ones who love me, my husband and children especially. Here is proof you can Rise Up, for you, for me and the ones you love. I’m not ashamed or afraid anymore… I got back up, not just on the stage but in life. All you need is Love & Hope, which is hard to find in such darkness but have faith.. 20 months on and I’m awake, I’m alive, I’m standing and I will keep on rising ♥️🥰🌟 It’s ok to be afraid and there is no need to feel shame. I will continue to spread awareness and I truly hope this song will give others Hope and Strength.
You might not see it (that’s the beauty and downfall of mental health) but even in this performance there was pain, brain fog, love, strength and a dry mouth (thanks to medication!) throughout this performance.
That’s the truth, which is OK.
To others out there, let this be your strength and let this be a sign that there will be brighter days. In fact the sun will shine in a brighter way…. ☀️⛅️🌦️🌦️🙏🏼🤞🏻🥰
