Welcome to Cockshutts Farm, Wolferlow - the home of the Sapey Cross Country Course which was established in 2002 by Alan and Audrey Thacker to provide a quality venue for horse trials here in the West Midlands, Welsh Border Counties, providing riders from Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire and Wales with first rate
eventing facilities. All on permanent grassland each year Sapey Cross Country hosts a number of One Day Events (ODEs), Eventer Challenges, Dressage Evenings and Schooling Clinics.

Sapey ODE & 2-phase Decision Day – this Friday 17 May.
Thank you all who have got their entries in early we are so grateful for your support. However, this message comes with a heavy heart in that the number of entries received is extremely disappointing with only 56 entries at 6am this morning.
We do fully understand how difficult it is for everyone, but we cannot financially run a horse trial with less than 150 entries and, for organising we need to know well in advance how many judges, how many volunteers, how many dressage arenas we need etc, etc everyone needs to know what we they are doing, so please send your entries in.
Decision Day will be 12noon Friday 17th May.

Prep for Success C A N C E L L E D
We are sincerely sorry to disappoint you all, but this wet weather is relentless. We had another 7mm of rain overnight and the ground is saturated. We need at least 10 days to a fortnight of good drying weather to even get the heavy machinery out on to the ground to enable the XC Course to be set-up as many of the portable jumps were winter stored. The weather forecast is not sufficiently promising for us to be confident that we can do this in time. So sadly, we have made the decision to cancel the Prep for Success Event on the 28th April. It is then only six weeks until the Sapey UA1 ODE we cannot fit in another date to run the Prep for Success before the ODE. If you have already entered Prep for Success your entry fee will be fully refunded by Horse Events, but the £2 booking fee is non-refundable.
Being optimistic, this weather must surely change, and we will open for XC Schooling at the earliest opportunity. Hopefully we will open for the first two weeks of May, and the dates will be on the Website Schooling Page as soon as we can see the ground is fit.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Coffee Morning at Saltmarshe Village Hall on 3rd Feb. It was a lovely event, and I am so grateful to you all for bringing such lovely cakes, plants, knitted garments, books and much much more. I am very grateful to all my friends and family who rallied around to help on the day, and to everyone for being so generous we raised an amazing amount of £712.05 for St Michaels Hospice.

Just a week to go before trotting down that centre line at Sapey Cross Country! We are still taking entries in all classes, but some are close to being full so don't delay. Ground is good, finishing touches being made to a new XC course this week. Late Entry Fee will apply from 12 noon Tuesday 30th August.
Guess who’s just entered her first ever British Eventing Official event 🫣
Admittedly it is a “GOBE” class but still… thanks to the cancellation of Cotswold Cup Crown Farm (no idea why 🤷♀️) which we had entered, we have been forced to the dark side 🤪 but to be honest I’m quite excited. I had been wondering about trying to qualify for the BE80 champs next year now that we are a bit more consistent (famous last words 😂) so maybe this is a good introduction to see how we get on 🤞😄

Sapey is running Go BE for unaffiliated competitors, include prizes in kind and rosettes.
GO BE classes will enable riders to take part in a British Eventing affiliated competition, without the need of a BE membership and without a BE published record of the results. The classes will be run in accordance with all other BE competitions, just with the notable difference that they will be open to all riders from the year of their 12th Birthday, (non-members will need to complete a free Associate registration and horse registration via the website) and results will be unpublished.

Sapey Autumn 2-Phase & Horse Trials - 12th October 2019 2-Phase CLASSES – 2P70, 2P80, 2P90, 2P100, 2P110 Hunter Trial CLASSES – HT70, HT80, HT90, HT100, HT110 The 2-phase competition will consist of a SJ round in the usual place, you then make your way over to XC to start when you have had a breather. So they are separate phases but both scores will count towards your total score. The hunter trials sections are just XC over our full BE courses, placings will be based on whoever has the least penalties and is closest to the optimum time.
