Valentine's Day is not far away! Why not celebrate with a British grown, seasonal bouquet. This year FairfieldFlowers is collaborating with artist and jewellery maker Vita, from I can’t even draw and each Valentine's bouquet will include a hand-crafted bead and hammered-metal heart 'stem', a keepsake that will last long after the flowers become just a memory, and which can be used again and again to adorn other flower displays or as a stand-alone piece. Some flowers I grew and arranged for my wonderful parents' Diamond Wedding Anniversary party a week ago. Photographed in the barn studio I share with my hubby. The large arrangement stood at 1.3m and had to be transported to the party venue lying flat in the boot of my car with the back passenger seats down!

This summer weather is lovely, but our cut flowers might be struggling. Here are some tips from FairfieldFlowers to help your posy or bouquet survive the heat: keep your flowers out of direct sunlight, position them in a cool place, move them around to different rooms during the day to avoid the sun if necessary; trim a couple of centimeters off the stems every 2-3 days; refresh the water every day; ensure the vase is clean after each water refresh to avoid any build up of algae or bacteria; enjoy! Thankfully, my flower studio is cool and airy :-)
