Five years ago Level 3 events students were tasked with creating a fashion show to showcase the work by HRC hair and media make up students, we have hosted these shows every year (Covid aside) and each show has a theme, previous shows include Glorious Garbage and Seasons. Last Thursday the students put together a fashion show in the Southern Maltings in Ware and this year’s theme was Carnival.
Events students are given a brief from the hair and media make up tutors and in groups pitch their ideas and the feedback is used to create the final proposal. Students then plan the show in detail organising venue, decorations, equipment, risk assessments, itinerary, tickets, fundraising.
Charlotte Evans and Kate Hufton attended from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance as we used proceeds from the evening to raise money for the charity in the name of Sonny Crane, a former HRC student who sadly lost his life in a road traffic accident last year.
Learners from level 2 media make up and level 4 hair created amazing designs with a carnival theme and their models all took part in the catwalk show.
Winners were chosen by our panel of judges from industry – Natalie Webb (Celebrity make up artist), Si Walker (owner of award winning My Good Salon), and Jasmin Howard (former HRC students and social media influencer).
Thank you and well done to HND Photography student Sam Marsh instagram for the amazing photos!

HND Events students were tasked with planning GSKs Orange Day. A day for staff to volunteer in the local community.

Students identified areas in Ware town centre which required some TLC and liaised with staff today to make sure areas on the High Street, Southern Maltings, Ware Priory and Woodson Park were cleaned up.

Well done to the GSK team who worked so hard to make a difference!

Love Hoddesdon Young Entrepreneur Project!🤩👍

This year, Tony Cox BID Manager (Business Improvement District) visited HRC and spoke to our events, tourism and business students about improving Hoddesdon town centre and engaging young people to visit the town and support local events.

Our students then came up with individual ideas for fun events which could be held in Hoddesdon which young people could get involved with.

Last night, Katie Mullings (Level 3 events student) pitched our ideas in a Dragons Den style format to local counsellors and businesspeople.

These included Tony Cox, Kevin Brooks (Chairman of Love Hoddesdon), Karen Chase (Director HB Accountants), Nicole May (Director Mayhem theatre arts Ltd), Steve Wortley (Borough of Broxbourne council) and Aaron Gamsby (Axis magazine).

Katie's idea of a doggie festival in the town centre was liked so much that although she didn’t win, they still plan to do the event and she will be involved with the planning and ex*****on of the event🐾

A huge well done to Katie and everyone involved, what an amazing achievement🎉👏
