* Are roses out for weddings?
I've had a few brides ask me not to include roses in their wedding flowers this year.
And while most florist gasp at the thought, I will absolutely curate you stunning floral arrangements for your wedding without a rose in sight.
I don't think roses are the problem though. I think it's the lack of personalisation. As we look to Pinterest for inspiration we see lots of beautiful bouquets filled with beautiful roses because they are, well, beautiful. But also very samey.
Couples today are seeking customised weddings to showcase their unique personalities and their flowers are no different.
There are some very popular roses available today that are the go-to for many designs.
I don't use "go-to" flowers for every fail-safe design though, I use seasonal, local flowers, that produce amazing and truly bespoke results every time.
And you really can't beat quintessential English garden roses - with their ruffles on ruffles, and their powerful perfume that is guaranteed to turn heads. And the varieties to choose from are endless.
Let's talk about your wedding, designed your way, and don't hesitate - our wedding calendar is booking up fast, with available from September 2025 onwards.
Like this post and share with your engaged friends and, most importantly, DM me the word "Roses" today x

I have a particular penchant for dried flowers - pressing and drying them have been a hobby of mine for many years now.
I love to preserve flowers to eternalize their beautify and incorporate them into bouquets to give them a unique style. I also love that this allows my brides to include special flowers that may not have been in season when they get married.

How about a wedding atop the mountains overlooking the Gold Coast?
We have just spent the best part of October over the other side of the world - we went for a family wedding in Australia, but made a real trip of it by campervanning down through New Zealand.
It was incredible! Didi absolutely loved the camping life for a few weeks, and we saw so many amazing things!
But, before we left, I found the planning sooo stressful. I don't travel often, I'm a terrible flyer, I don't know where to book things... My husband was ready to leave me behind I think 🤣
How many of you feel a tad overwhelmed when doing something new?
Planning a wedding is something new! Thinking about flowers is also new! Perhaps you have no idea what will be in season, how they go together, what that bloom is even called...
But don't worry! Get in touch for a chat, I'll ask about your wedding day plans and for inspiration pictures, then I'll put together the rest - everything taken care of so you can chill and enjoy your day.
DM me today to get the conversation going!

Thinking about having your wedding flowers preserved?
Every flower tells it's own story and preserving them allows them to carry on telling that story, re-living those memories for years to come!
Every piece of artwork I make is completely bespoke, and so it's very helpful to have a quick discovery call to find out what's really important to you and exactly what design you'd like.
Ahead of the call, you may find it useful to have a think about the style you'd like your flowers presented - either pressed or remaining as a three dimensional arrangement.
And if you have a preference on frame style - for example, wooden frame, white or black frames, frames that are see-though etc...
I'll guide you through the rest and provide you with a quote following our chat.
And if you are based within an hour's drive of my studio in Bruton, I will also collect and deliver your flowers as part of the package.
I recommend getting in touch before you get married as I can only take a limited number of arrangements at one time and I will want to receive your bouquet the day after you get married.
You can email me at [email protected] to book your call!

It's been a tad quiet over here, the last couple days have been busy!
Emma and I teamed up to create beautiful, autumn inspired, wedding flowers for Hannah and Charlie - what a way to bloom into the new season!
This was Emma's wedding, with me freelancing, and she hit the brief perfectly!
All of these flowers are British, with a wonderful combination of fresh and dried to give amazing texture.
The fresh flowers were all grown by Cate at @fieldflowershaslemere
I absolutely loved working with Emma, we had the best day, and make a pretty good team - can't wait till next time! ☺️
Location: @ramsterhallweddings absolutely stunning!

Create gravity defying flowers with me!
Ever wondered how to make those beautiful wedding flower centrepieces where flowers seem to just stand up in the bowl, all by themselves?
Now's your chance to learn! I'm talking through the basics of using FLOWER FROGS.
Flower Frogs are small, usually round or rectangular, weighted pieces with metal or plastic spikes that you push your stems into to hold flowers upright without the need for chicken wire, in beautiful shallow bowls.
I'm very proud of this bowl - I made it myself, and think it's rather good (if I do say so myself).
I bought James a pottery making day for his birthday and, of course, booked myself in as well, with Kim at @kimbirchallceramics, in Frome Somerset. It was brilliant fun!
The flowers I'm using today were grown locally by Sue at @fosse_farm_flowers, aren't they gorgeous?
I'm using mint, cosmos in white and apricot and pink, snapdragons, hemp agrimony, white scabiosa, creme brulee phlox, pink rose, and daucus carota.
I cut the stems at varying lengths, usually making the flowers shorter on one side for a asymmetrical look (but this is personal preference and you go with the look you love).
And I push the stems onto the spikes, thinking about flowers placement as I go. And it's that simple really.
If you aren't satisfied with how a flower looks in a certain position, pull it off and replace it!
You can buy flower frogs online, eBay, Amazon, direct from wholesalers or florists, and you can also get floral adhesive (a sticky sort of gum that you rub between your hands to warm up and apply between the bowl and base of the frog to help hold it in place).
Make sure the water comes up over the top of the frog to ensure ends of stems are actually in the water.
You'll find this arrangement doesn't last as long as one in a vase, but it's perfect for those classy table decorations on your big day!

I'm offering you a solution ...
I started on my floral journey back in 2017 and, as an avid researcher, I ended up going down many a rabbit hole about the environmental impact of floristry...
I have to say, it's quite shocking.
Something so natural can come with such a big carbon footprint.
Now the environment is pretty high on everyones agenda, and so you may be wondering how your flowers can also be planet friendly, and that's where I come in :)
I have really taken the time to research where my flowers come from, how they've been grown, and the eco-friendliness of the other floristry materials I use - you will get happy flowers that don't cost the earth from me!
Why not send me a quick message so we can chat about your sustainable wedding flowers?

How to increase the vase life of your flower:
Forget bleach, and don't worry too much about flower food. Simply give your bunch a clean vase with fresh water, at least every other day, and trim a cm off the end of the stems.
Remove the dying flowers as you go to keep it looking fresh :)
And that's it!

In celebration of British Flower Week, let's make home grown flower displays!
Take flowers and foliage from your garden, ask friends and family if you can cut a few bits from their gardens, or go foraging (responsibly and with permission) and create something wonderful.
Here's a few things I snipped from my little garden, it's far from perfect - the peonies are the side shooting flowers so the stems are shorter than I'd usually use - but that's ok! I had fun making it and it's just for my table 😄
I used a decorative plant pot, with no hole in the bottom to hold the water, and some bunched up chicken wire to hold stems in place.
Cut your stems early morning or late evening for maximum water retention and longer stem life.
And most importantly, have fun!

Today I met lovely Sue, owner of Fosse Farm Flowers - if you haven't already, go check her out!
It was a lovely meeting and wonderful to be shown around and see everything they do!
Her flowers are all grown sustainably and had wildlife all over over them.
We are all about doing our bit for the insects (or minibeasts for those with small people) - the planet depends on them!
Not only that but their whole farming ethos is that of being as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible, which is amazing 🤩 they've even won awards!
As is standard, I was so caught up in the conversation that I forgot to take any pictures... So I hope you don't mind me borrowing your reel Sue!
